Allianz-Tiriac Asigurari S.A.
Allianz-Țiriac
Allianz-Țiriac is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Romania market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Allianz-Țiriac operates a partner repair network (service parteneri) with which it has direct settlement contracts. If the insured chooses a partner repair unit, the insurer pays the repair shop directly. For non-partner repair shops, compensation is calculated by Allianz-Țiriac and paid directly to the policyholder. An optional 'Decontare directă' (Direct Settlement) add-on allows the injured party to recover damages through their own Allianz-Țiriac RCA policy when a third party is at fault.

Only costs of lawyers registered in Romania are covered. For accidents abroad, costs of Romanian lawyers sub-contracting to foreign lawyers are covered. The insured sum / limit of indemnity is specified in the individual policy.
Green Card (international coverage)
unlimited
The RCA policy automatically extends coverage to the territory of Green Card member countries listed on the policy document that are not crossed out. For accidents in EU member states, coverage is at the level required by the legislation of the member state where the accident occurred or at the Romanian level, whichever is higher. Coverage applies in the listed countries (Albania, Austria, Andorra, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Switzerland, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Malta, Great Britain, Morocco, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary) that are not crossed out on the policy.
Roadside assistance (Asistență rutieră)
Optional
Available as an optional add-on to the RCA policy per the IPID, or included in packages under the My Car product. Basic roadside assistance (Confort package) covers on-site repairs (up to 1 hour labour), towing, passenger transport up to 50 km, and information services, valid in Europe (including European Turkey and Greek Cyprus) except Belarus, Ukraine, Russia and Moldova. Extended roadside assistance (Plus/Extra/Max packages) additionally includes replacement vehicle (4–6 days), hotel accommodation (up to 3 nights, up to 75 EUR/night/person), return home service, tyre replacement, fuel delivery, repatriation of remains, and vehicle debris removal (up to 125 EUR). Estimated response time for on-site repair, towing and mobile charging is 45 minutes in approximately 80% of cases. 24/7 roadside assistance line: 021 312 22 39.
Driver accident coverage under RCA
Excluded
RCA does not cover damage to property belonging to the driver of the vehicle responsible for the accident, nor injuries or death of that driver. The driver at fault is excluded from RCA coverage for their own person and property. Accident coverage for the driver can be purchased separately as the optional 'Accidente persoane' add-on.
Passenger and driver accident cover (Accidente persoane)
Optional
Optional add-on covering death or injury (permanent total disability, permanent partial disability, temporary disability) of the driver and passengers resulting from a road accident during the policy validity period. Basic cover (Confort package) covers death, permanent total invalidity, and temporary invalidity (hospitalization over 10 consecutive days or medical care over 20 consecutive days). Extended cover (Plus/Extra/Max packages) provides double the compensation limits compared to the basic package. Permanent invalidity must be communicated within 1 year of the accident. The insured sum per person is specified in the individual policy.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Coverage is valid on the territory of Romania and in all Green Card member countries listed on the RCA policy document that are not crossed out. For EU member state accidents, compensation is at the level required by the law of the state where the accident occurred, or Romanian law if higher. For accidents in non-EU Green Card countries, the higher of the country's legal minimum or Romanian limits applies, in favour of the injured party.
Green card rules
The RCA policy serves as a Green Card (international motor insurance certificate) for travel in Green Card member countries listed on the policy. Coverage is only valid for countries that are not crossed out on the document. The policy lists the covered countries explicitly; as of IPID version 6 (03.02.2026), the covered countries are: Albania, Austria, Andorra, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Switzerland, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Malta, Great Britain, Morocco, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary.
Driver restrictions
Any person driving the insured vehicle with the insured's consent is covered under RCA for third-party liability. However, damages caused to the driver at fault (the insured or the permitted driver) are excluded. There are no specific age or licence restrictions stated in the RCA IPID beyond the general requirement that the driver must hold a valid driving licence for the vehicle category. Driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or incompatible medication, or driving without a valid licence, voids coverage.
Claim notification deadline
The insured must notify the RCA insurer of the accident within 5 working days of the occurrence of the motor vehicle accident. The insured must also provide the insurer with information about the causes and circumstances of the accident and submit all documents necessary for handling the case. The insured must also transmit to the injured party, upon request, all information necessary for formulating compensation claims. For amicable accident assessment, a standardised form (constatare amiabilă) can be used for accidents involving two vehicles resulting only in material damage.
Bonus-malus rules
The bonus-malus system for RCA is governed by Romanian Law No. 132/2017 and ASF Norm 20/2017. The system consists of a base class B0 (assigned to new insureds without claims history), 8 bonus classes (B1–B8, granting premium reductions) and 8 malus classes (M1–M8, applying premium surcharges). Classes are attributed automatically based on the claims history recorded in the national CEDAM database managed by BAAR. The reference period is the calendar year preceding the RCA contract issuance date. For each claim-free year, the insured advances one bonus class. If a claim is paid, the insured is downgraded by two classes. At bonus-malus class determination, cases where a third identified party is solely responsible for the loss are not taken into account.
