Emergency dental treatment
Excluded
Restorative and prosthetic dental treatments are explicitly excluded. Only treatments constituting immediate medical interventions to alleviate acute illness may be covered within the general medical expense limit, but standalone emergency dental care is not listed as a covered benefit.
Medical transport and recovery costs

€20,000 – €60,000
Emergency transport is organized and executed by the insurer's designated organization at the insurer's expense. The necessity and means of emergency transport are decided by the designated organization. Coverage is excluded if another non-designated organization performs the transport. Repatriation of remains
Covered
In the event of death, the assistance bureau organizes and covers the transport costs for the deceased insured to the locality in Romania where they are to be buried. No explicit monetary limit stated separately for this benefit; costs are organized by the assistance bureau.
Search and rescue / recovery costs
€20,000 – €60,000
Rescue and recovery costs are covered within the general transport and recovery limit (up to 30,000 EUR individual / 60,000 EUR family). Note: ascending at high altitude without an authorized mountain guide and extreme nautical sports are explicitly excluded from coverage.
COVID-19 / pandemic treatment
Excluded
Events resulting from epidemics or pandemics are explicitly excluded from coverage unless they fall within the coverage conditions. COVID-19 as a pandemic cause is therefore not covered.
Pre-existing conditions
Excluded
Events that had already occurred at the start of the trip or were foreseeable are excluded. This also applies to illnesses existing before the contract was concluded. Additionally, persons with serious conditions requiring treatment, serious physical or mental disability, or mental/nervous system disorders cannot be insured.
Winter / leisure sports cover
Optional
Winter and leisure sports coverage is available as an optional add-on package to the base TRAVEL policy. The base policy excludes injuries from paragliding, non-motorized aircraft, motor sport competitions, extreme nautical sports, and high-altitude ascents without a licensed guide. Skiing and other leisure sports can be added via a supplementary sports package.
Adventure / leisure sports cover
Optional
Adventure and leisure sports coverage is available as an optional add-on package. The base policy excludes parachuting, paragliding, extreme nautical sports, and motor sport competitions. Supplementary sports packages can extend coverage to recreational sports activities.
Pregnancy and childbirth complications
Excluded
Termination of pregnancy, treatments resulting from contraceptive measures, pregnancies, and childbirths are explicitly excluded from the medical expenses coverage.
Personal liability
Excluded
Personal liability coverage is not included in or described under the TRAVEL (travel_medical) product. The CGAC conditions and PID document do not reference civil liability coverage for third-party damage caused by the insured.
Legal assistance (criminal proceedings)
€800
If the insured is arrested or in danger of arrest abroad, the assistance bureau arranges a lawyer and interpreter, covering costs up to a maximum of 800 EUR.
24/7 travel assistance (Mondial Assistance)
unlimited
24/7 medical assistance is provided through a partnership with Mondial Assistance. The assistance bureau provides information on ambulatory care, establishes medical contacts during hospitalization, informs family members, and coordinates emergency transport and repatriation.
Key conditions
Assistance call deadline
The insured event must be reported IMMEDIATELY to the insurer's assistance bureau. In the case of hospitalizations or repeated ambulatory treatments, the bureau must be notified IMMEDIATELY. Failure to notify may result in the insurer being exempt from paying compensation.
Unauthorized treatment
If emergency transport is performed by an organization other than the one designated by the insurer, reimbursement is excluded. Similarly, costs reimbursed from another source for emergency transport or medical treatment will not be compensated again (subsidiary coverage principle).
Purchase while abroad
The insurance contract must be concluded before the journey begins. Coverage starts on the date stated in the policy after payment of the premium, but no earlier than the start of the journey. If the policy issue date and start date are the same, coverage begins at 00:00 of the following day.
Chronic conditions
Persons with serious conditions requiring treatment, serious physical or mental disability, mental disorders, or nervous system diseases cannot be insured (Art. 3.2 CGAC). If such a condition develops during the contract, coverage ceases at the end of the current journey.
Pregnancy
Termination of pregnancy, treatments resulting from contraceptive measures, pregnancies, and childbirths are explicitly excluded from medical expense coverage (CGAC §II.3.2.4).
Pre-existing condition exclusions
Events that had already occurred at the start of the journey or were foreseeable are excluded (CGAC §9.11). This includes illnesses existing before the contract was drawn up (§II.3.2.2). Medical treatments whose necessity was known before the journey began are also excluded.
Coverage duration limit
Coverage is valid for the period stated in the policy. If the insured becomes untransportable abroad due to illness or accident, the indemnity obligation extends beyond the stated term by a maximum of two months (CGAC §II.7.1). The insured sum represents the maximum limit for all compensations paid for damages arising from a single insured event during the insurance period.
