Geographic scope

BE

Unique selling points

  • Up to 36 months of new-value protection: with Formula 36, the insured receives 100% of the insured value for the first 3 years after purchase in case of total loss, a market-leading depreciation freeze.
  • Zero deductible for policyholders with multiple Baloise contracts: clients holding multiple policies benefit from waived deductibles and free monthly payment with no additional cost, rewarding loyalty.
  • Lifetime bonus-malus degree -2 guarantee: once the policyholder reaches BM -2, Baloise maintains this most-favourable tariff for life, even after subsequent at-fault claims (subject to standard BM Safe exclusions).
  • Premium Plus network: approved repairers provide a 3-year guarantee on repairs, paint, and parts, plus free pick-up and delivery within 30 km, a free safety check, and interior cleaning — services typically charged as extras by competitors.
  • Integrated EV-specific coverages at no extra charge: the Omnium Safe 1 covers EV charging cable theft/damage, battery-related fire extinction costs up to EUR 5,000, EV battery storage costs up to EUR 5,000 for total-loss EVs, and towing to the nearest charging point for flat-battery breakdowns.

Coverage limits

Own vehicle damage (collision, accident, rollover)

Covered

Covers damage to the insured vehicle caused by collision, accident, rollover, contact between parts of a vehicle combination, vandalisme, wrong fuel, small animals damaging cables/insulation, and attentats. The insured value (invoice value or original catalogue value) is applied using the depreciation formula chosen (Formula 36/24/12/6/0). In case of total loss, no deductible applies (except when driver is under 23 years old). For repairable damage, the contractual deductible applies.

Source

Total loss / Constructive total loss

Covered

In case of total loss (technical or economic), indemnity is calculated based on the insured value and the depreciation formula selected at inception (Formula 36: 100% for 36 months then -1%/month; Formula 24, 12, 6, or 0 with proportional depreciation). No deductible applies to total loss except when the driver at fault is under 23 years old (EUR 250 deductible). The 2/3 rule allows the insured to opt for total-loss settlement when repair cost exceeds 2/3 of the insured value.

Source

Partial loss (repairable damage)

Covered

For repairable damage, Baloise's expert assesses the repair cost. The contractual deductible (EUR 250, 500, 750, or 1,000; or English-style EUR 750) is deducted from the repair cost. No deductible for vandalism or damage by small animals. An additional EUR 250 deductible applies if the driver is under 23 years old and not listed as the usual driver.

Also covers replacement of locks/keys, keyless start systems, remote controls, and anti-theft system recoding if the key/system is stolen. Key conditions

driver_age_experience_limit

No minimum age or experience requirement for the named insured/vehicle owner. However, an additional deductible of EUR 250 applies for vehicle damage claims (Dégâts au véhicule) when the driver at the time of loss is under 23 years old and is not listed as the usual driver in the Special Conditions (or when no usual driver is listed). This additional deductible also applies to total-loss settlements. A recourse franchise of EUR 150 applies to the mandatory MTPL cover when the driver is under 23 and not listed as 23 or older.

repair_network_requirements

Baloise operates a Premium Plus and Service Plus network of approved repairers. Use of an approved network repairer gives benefits including: direct payment by Baloise to the repairer, a free replacement vehicle during the repair period, faster claims settlement, a 3-year guarantee on repairs/paint/parts (Premium Plus) or 2-year guarantee (Service Plus), pick-up and delivery within 30 km (Premium Plus), and a free safety check (Premium Plus). Use of a non-network repairer is permitted but the insured must pay the applicable deductible directly. List of approved repairers available at www.trouvezunreparateur.be.

territorial_scope

The Omnium Safe 1 is valid in all countries listed in the Motor Vehicle General Conditions (same country list as MTPL: all European green card countries, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey). Baloise Assistance for Omnium events covers Belgium, Luxembourg, and up to 30 km beyond Belgian borders. For events abroad with the RC (MTPL) cover, assistance covers all listed countries. The vehicle must remain registered in Belgium for the policy to remain applicable.

anti_theft_requirements

For theft coverage, the designated vehicle must be equipped with the anti-theft or post-theft system specified in the Special Conditions. The system must be activated and functioning correctly at all times and must be properly maintained. When leaving the vehicle unattended, doors and boot must be locked, roof and windows closed, and all keys/keyless systems/remote controls taken away. Failure to comply with any of these requirements may result in claim denial for theft. In case of theft or attempted theft, a police report must be filed within 24 hours of discovery.

claim_notification_deadline

The insured must notify Baloise of any claim as quickly as possible and in any case within 8 days of the event. For theft or attempted theft, a police report must be filed within 24 hours of discovery and the relevant document provided to Baloise. Court documents (citations, etc.) must be forwarded within 48 hours of receipt. Repairs may only commence after the expert has assessed the damage, except for urgent or provisional repairs (limited to EUR 1,250 excl. VAT if covered).

deductible_rules

Deductible options for vehicle damage (Dégâts au véhicule - Grande Omnium): fixed amounts of EUR 250, EUR 500, EUR 750, or EUR 1,000 per claim; or English-style deductible of EUR 750 (insured pays first EUR 750, insurer pays the remainder without deductible application above that threshold). No deductible applies for: fire, theft, glass damage (standard vehicles), natural perils, animal collision, vandalism, or total loss (unless driver under 23). Additional EUR 250 deductible when driver under 23 and not the listed usual driver. Policyholders with multiple Baloise contracts may be eligible for a zero deductible on certain coverages.
