Assistance call deadline
The insured must request assistance immediately at the time of the incident. Assistance provided without the prior approval of KBC is not covered.
Unauthorized treatment
Medical expenses incurred without prior KBC approval or without contacting the assistance center are not reimbursed. The insured must contact the KBC assistance helpline before or immediately upon seeking medical care abroad.
Purchase while abroad
The insurance must be taken out before departure from Belgium. Cover does not apply if the insured has already left on holiday before taking out the insurance.
Chronic conditions
Complications or worsening of a chronic or existing illness are not covered if the insured has not followed the prescribed treatment. Stable pre-existing conditions that suddenly deteriorate may be covered at KBC's discretion per the general conditions.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy complications after the 6th month and childbirth expenses are explicitly not covered. Complications during the first two trimesters may be covered under general medical expenses.
