Legal defence costs are explicitly listed as excluded from MTPL coverage in the IPID. Fines, court costs and other financial penalties for the at-fault driver are not covered.
SourceGreen Card Certificate
Covered
A free Green Card certificate is issued together with the MTPL policy, serving as proof of valid motor insurance for cross-border travel in Green Card system member states not automatically covered by the base policy (i.e., states beyond Bulgaria, EU, EEA, Andorra, Serbia, Switzerland).
SourceRoadside Assistance
Optional
Roadside assistance is not included in the base MTPL policy. Generali offers it as a separate optional paid product — 'Automotive Assistance for Bulgaria' — available in three tiers (Standard, Mega, Luxury), providing 24-hour towing, flat tyre change, fuel delivery, jump-start, and other services.
SourceDriver Accident Cover

Damages suffered by the at-fault driver are explicitly excluded from MTPL coverage per the IPID. A separate voluntary accident insurance ('Злополука на лица в превозни средства') is available from Generali.
SourcePassenger Accident Cover

territorial_scope
The policy covers the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, all other EU Member States, all EEA states, as well as Andorra, Serbia and Switzerland. For other Green Card system member states, a Green Card certificate must be obtained separately (issued free of charge with the policy).
green_card_rules
A free Green Card certificate is issued together with the MTPL policy upon request and serves as international proof of insurance. When a loss event occurs abroad, the insured must obtain copies of all official police documents and insurance policies of the other parties involved. Generali's local Group representative is authorised to handle and settle claims on Generali's behalf.
driver_restrictions
The policy covers civil liability of the vehicle owner, user and holder named in the policy, as well as any person legally operating the vehicle. Damages suffered by the at-fault driver are excluded. Damages caused to a family member's property are excluded. Vehicles used in racing events (where road traffic rules do not apply) are excluded unless expressly agreed.
claim_notification_deadline
Upon a loss event, the insured must immediately notify the competent road traffic authorities where required by law, and must not leave the scene until they arrive (except when urgent medical assistance is needed). The insured must notify Generali in writing within 3 working days of the date of occurrence or the date of becoming aware of the loss event, by appearing in person or through a representative at the nearest Generali office. If the 3-day deadline falls on a non-working day, notification must be made on the next working day.
bonus_malus_rules
Bulgaria does not yet apply a fully standardised national bonus-malus system for MTPL. Generali Bulgaria applies its own premium correction rules based on claims history. Policyholders renewing without claims may receive a discount; those with claims may face a premium increase at renewal. Insurers are required by proposed legislative amendments to publish their own bonus-malus policies and rules.
