green_card_rules
The Green Card certificate is issued together with the MTPL policy. Its territorial scope covers all Green Card system member countries. Its validity period coincides with the policy period. For EU events, the minimum liability limits applicable in the country where the event occurred apply, or the coverage under Bulgarian law if higher.
driver_restrictions
The policy covers any person who lawfully drives or operates the insured vehicle. Damages suffered by the at-fault driver are excluded. The insured must not consume alcohol or other intoxicating or narcotic substances until the arrival of the competent authorities.
claim_notification_deadline
The insured must notify the insurer within 7 business days of becoming aware of the insured event. The insured must take all necessary measures to rescue injured persons and limit damage to property. The insured must immediately notify the competent road traffic control authorities where required by law, and must not leave the scene until they arrive (except where urgent medical assistance is required).
bonus_malus_rules
A bonus-malus system for MTPL is being introduced under Bulgarian law (amendments to the Insurance Code and pending Ordinance on bonus-malus). Each insurer must adopt its own rules for premium adjustment based on claims history. Currently each insurer applies its own premium correction criteria. The system rewards claim-free drivers with discounts and increases premiums for drivers with a history of causing damage.
