territorial_scope
Coverage applies within the geographical borders of Europe and extra-European territories belonging to the European Union. When abroad, at least the legally required minimum coverage of the visited country applies at all times. If an international insurance certificate (green card) is issued, coverage also applies to the countries listed and not crossed out on that card.
green_card_rules
The international insurance certificate (green card) is available digitally in the customer account and can be downloaded and printed. In EU member states and countries such as Switzerland, carrying the green card is not mandatory. However, it must be carried in certain countries (e.g. Turkey, Serbia, Russia, Albania, Belarus, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina).
driver_restrictions
The vehicle may only be used by an authorised driver (a person using the vehicle with the knowledge and will of the entitled party). The policyholder must not knowingly allow the vehicle to be used by an unauthorised driver. The driver must hold the required driving licence. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited.
claim_notification_deadline
An insurance claim (loss event) must be reported to the insurer within one week of occurrence. If claims are asserted against the policyholder judicially or extra-judicially, these must also be notified within one week of assertion. The insurer must be granted conduct of any litigation and may appoint a lawyer in the policyholder's name.
bonus_malus_rules
Premiums in MTPL are based on the no-claims discount class (Schadenfreiheitsklasse, SF-Klasse). Classification is based on claims-free years and claims history. Each claims-free calendar year improves the SF-class by one level; claims result in downgrading per the tables in the Appendix. The SF-class lapses if cover is interrupted for more than ten years. An optional no-claims protection (Rabattschutz) add-on is available (from SF-class 4), which prevents downgrading for one claim per calendar year.
