Direct payment

RedClick may take over and settle the defence or settlement of third-party liability claims directly, in the policyholder's name, using its own appointed legal representatives or repairers. Roadside assistance and windscreen work must be pre-authorised through RedClick's 24-hour helplines; approved providers are paid directly by RedClick, otherwise the policyholder pays and is reimbursed once authorisation is confirmed.

Legal Costs / Legal Defence

Covered

Under Section 1 (Liability to Others), RedClick pays fees for a solicitor it appoints to represent the policyholder at a coroner's inquest or fatal accident enquiry, and fees for legal representatives instructed to defend the policyholder against a charge of manslaughter or causing death by careless or dangerous driving, where RedClick considers there is a reasonable chance of success. No monetary cap is stated for this benefit.

Foreign Use / International Motor Insurance Cover (Green Card equivalent)

Covered

The policy automatically provides the minimum cover required by law to use the vehicle in any EU member state and in any other country that has made arrangements to meet the European Commission's minimum insurance requirements, and automatically extends full policy cover (as shown on the schedule of insurance) to these countries for up to 93 days in any one period of insurance. Breakdown Assistance and Driving Other Cars sections do not apply while the vehicle is abroad. For longer trips or other countries, the policyholder must request cover in advance, provide travel dates and destination countries, and pay any extra premium required.

Breakdown Assistance and Home Start

Optional

Optional extra (Section 6, shown on the schedule of insurance if selected) covering one hour's labour at the roadside or at home, including refuelling or towing to the nearest EV charge point, and towing to the nearest garage able to carry out an effective repair or to a garage of choice. If repairs cannot be completed at the breakdown location and the vehicle is away from home, RedClick pays up to €150 for onward transport, a replacement vehicle for up to 48 hours, or B&B accommodation (up to €35 per person, €150 in total). In England, Scotland and Wales, cover includes a replacement car for up to 48 hours (up to £100) or towing to the departure port (up to £250). Maximum of three call-outs per period of insurance; assistance not covered outside the territorial limits or if not pre-authorised via the 24-hour helpline; not available together with foreign use cover extensions. Using this cover does not affect the no-claims bonus.

Personal Accident (Driver/Policyholder)

€6,500

Optional Personal Accident extra, available for an extra premium if shown on the schedule of insurance, pays the policyholder (or legal representative) €6,500 if accidentally injured while travelling in, or getting into or out of, the vehicle and the injury alone results, within three months, in death, permanent loss of sight in one or both eyes, or loss of one or more limbs. Maximum payable is €6,500 per period of insurance; excludes suicide/attempted suicide and injury while driving unfit due to alcohol or drugs. This benefit is set out under Sections 2-4 of the policy booklet (Own Damage, Fire, Theft) but is listed by RedClick's IPID as a general optional extra not restricted to a specific cover tier.

Passenger Accident Benefit

No limit stated

The policy's Personal Accident benefit (€6,500) is expressed as payable only to 'you (the policyholder)'; no separate no-fault personal accident benefit for other passengers is set out in the policy booklet or IPID. Passengers injured in an accident are instead covered as third parties under Section 1 (Liability to Others), which provides unlimited legal liability cover for their bodily injury.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain (including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands). Full policy cover automatically extends to other EU member states, and to non-EU countries that meet the European Commission's minimum insurance arrangements, for up to 93 days in any one period of insurance.

Green card rules

For EU countries and countries meeting EU Commission minimum insurance arrangements, full cover is automatically provided for up to 93 days per period of insurance without any request needed. For longer stays or travel to other countries, the policyholder must ask RedClick to arrange cover before departure, provide travel dates and destination countries, and pay any extra premium; Breakdown Assistance and Driving Other Cars sections do not apply while the vehicle is abroad.

Driver restrictions

Only drivers named on the certificate of insurance, or covered under an 'any driver' entry (subject to restrictions on the schedule of insurance), may drive the vehicle. The driver must hold a valid full licence or learner permit for the vehicle category being driven, must not be currently banned from driving, and must meet the conditions and any limits of that driving licence.

Claim notification deadline

Any accident, injury, loss or damage must be reported to RedClick immediately, or by the next working day at the latest; delayed reporting may reduce the protection of the policy. In cases of theft, attempted theft or malicious damage, An Garda Síochána must also be contacted immediately and a copy of the Garda report provided to RedClick.

Bonus-malus rules

The premium reflects a no-claims bonus (NCB) discount which is reduced if a claim arises during the period of insurance: an NCB of 1-3 years is reduced to 0 years, a 4-year NCB is reduced to 1 year, and an NCB of 5 years or more is reduced to 2 years. NCB is not reduced by a single fire or theft claim in a period of insurance, loss-of-keys claims, Windscreen cover claims, Breakdown assistance claims, or amounts RedClick later recovers in full. Two or more claims in one period of insurance reduce NCB to zero at the next renewal. An optional Protected No-Claims Bonus extension is available for an extra premium once four or more years' NCB has been earned.
