Vehicle damage (Casco)
Covered
Material damage caused to the insured vehicle by accident, accidental event, third-party fault or natural elements not expressly excluded, whether the vehicle is in circulation, parked or garaged. Includes damages caused by martens/fouines, airbag deployment, tyre damage jointly with other covered damage or vandalism, and wrong fuel costs up to EUR 1,000. No deductible applies in the Performance formula. Indemnity is based on repair cost (or replacement value minus salvage value for total loss). Repair costs exceeding standard Luxembourg tariffs are excluded. The insurer pays repairers directly.

Indemnification when the insured vehicle is declared economically or technically irreparable following a covered event (fire, theft, glass breakage, natural perils, animal collision, vehicle damage). If the stolen vehicle is not recovered within 30 days, it is also considered a total loss. Indemnity is based on the replacement value minus salvage value. Optional 'Valeur à neuf pendant 3 ans' and 'Valeur d'achat véhicule d'occasion' riders are available (add-on). In the Performance formula, the 'Réparation Plus' benefit additionally pays up to 10% of the vehicle's replacement value (max EUR 2,500) to enable repair rather than write-off.

Material damage to the insured vehicle that is economically repairable, resulting from a covered event (accident, third-party act, vandalism, natural forces not excluded, fire, glass breakage, theft-related damage). Indemnity is determined based on the repair estimate or invoice, not exceeding the difference between replacement value and salvage value. No deductible applies in the Performance formula for type 1 vehicles (cars). A EUR 250 deductible applies for recent-licence drivers (under 26, less than 2 years' licence) unless waived per the contract.

Covers damage to the insured vehicle caused by theft or destruction/deterioration by thieves, including attempted theft. For type 1 vehicles also covers: replacement of keys and locking systems in case of attempted theft or key loss, repair of the anti-theft system, and theft/destruction by car-jacking or home-jacking. Excludes theft perpetrated by family members of the policyholder and theft of the vehicle with key left inside. A police report must be filed immediately. Indemnification only occurs after at least 30 days from the written loss declaration. If the vehicle is not recovered within 30 days, total loss indemnity applies.

Covered
Covers breakage of windscreens, sunroofs, side windows and rear windows (including heated elements and aerials) in glass or rigid synthetic material, for all vehicles. For type 1 vehicles also covers chips and cracks, headlights, exterior and interior mirrors, rain sensors, and windscreen sticker replacement. Windscreen replacement is only covered for deterioration in the driver's field of vision or impacts within a 10 cm border of the glass edge; otherwise, only repair is covered. Cover does not apply if the vehicle is economically unrepairable. A deductible of 2.5% of new value (min EUR 250, max EUR 620) applies if the driver had a blood alcohol level of at least 0.5 g/l; a 20% deductible (min EUR 620, max EUR 2,500) applies if a third-party driver had at least 1.2 g/l.

Covers material damage directly caused to the insured vehicle and its accessories by: landslides, rockfalls, stone falls, avalanche, weight of snow, falling ice, storm, hail, cyclone, tornado, torrential rain, runoff, sewer overflow, flooding, earthquake, volcanic eruption, and tidal wave. This guarantee is only applicable for type 1 vehicles and only if the glass breakage (Bris de Glaces) guarantee has been subscribed. Included from the Confort formula; available as an optional pack add-on in the Sécurité formula. Same franchise rules as Bris de Glaces apply.

Vandalism is covered under the 'Dégâts au véhicule' (vehicle damage/casco) guarantee included in the Confort and Performance formulas. Specifically, tyre damage caused by vandalism is explicitly covered for type 1 vehicles, and general accidental or third-party damage events which include vandalism-related acts are covered through the broad 'accident, accidental event, third-party act' scope of the casco guarantee. The general exclusion for intentional acts by the policyholder does not remove third-party vandalism cover.

LALUX Top Assistance provides 24/7 breakdown and towing service following breakdown, accident, attempted theft, theft or flat tyre that immobilises the vehicle. Coverage is valid in Luxembourg (including at home) and abroad in all green card zone countries (excluding Israel, Iran, Russia and Ukraine). In Luxembourg and within 50 km beyond its borders: organises and covers towing to the chosen garage or roundtrip for spare key retrieval. If repairs take more than 2 hours, the insured can choose between passenger repatriation or a category B replacement vehicle for up to 5 days. In case of vehicle theft, a category B replacement vehicle for up to 30 days. Abroad: towing to the nearest competent garage; if repairs exceed 24 hours, choice of immediate return home, hotel costs (up to EUR 80/insured/day, max 5 days) plus replacement vehicle, or continuation of trip; if repairs exceed 5 days, vehicle repatriation to Luxembourg and immediate return of occupants. Breakdown interventions are limited to 2 per insurance year. Without calling LALUX first: max reimbursement of EUR 200 in Luxembourg and EUR 500 abroad. The helpline number is (00352) 44 88 88.

In the Confort and Performance formulas, a category B (or equivalent) replacement vehicle is made available (or rental costs reimbursed up to EUR 30/day) for: up to 5 days in case of breakdown (via Top Assistance), up to 15 days in case of a covered accident (duration of effective repairs + 2 days + legal closure days, max 10 days base plus extensions via Top Assistance making 15 days total per marketing materials), up to 35 days in case of total loss, and up to 60 days in case of theft. The replacement vehicle guarantee only applies if the vehicle damage ('Dégâts au véhicule') guarantee has been subscribed, and only for type 1 vehicles (cars). Fuel, toll and additional insurance costs for the replacement vehicle are excluded. An optional upgrade to a higher vehicle category is available for Confort and Performance formulas at additional premium. All subscribed guarantees are provisionally transferred to the replacement vehicle.

Optional guarantee covering the insured driver (and family as occupants of the insured vehicle) against the financial consequences of a road accident, regardless of who is at fault. Two options exist: (1) 'Garantie Accident' – a lump-sum/fixed indemnity guarantee covering death capital (paid to beneficiaries), permanent disability indemnity calculated using a standard or progressive invalidity scale, and reimbursement of medical expenses (doctors, hospitalisation, pharmaceuticals, prosthetics, transport to nearest hospital up to 200 km) for up to 2 years after the accident; (2) 'Garantie Conducteur Formule A' – an indemnity-based guarantee covering actual loss (treatment costs, clothing damage, economic loss from temporary or permanent work incapacity, physical/functional injury per 'point' method) and in case of death: funeral costs and economic loss of the family. Both are applicable only to type 1 vehicles and vans (camionnettes for Formule A). Sums insured are defined in the Particular Conditions. Cover is not acquired if the driver does not hold the required driving licence.

driver_age_experience_limit
For type 1 vehicles (cars), any claim under the vehicle damage ('Dégâts au véhicule') guarantee caused by a driver under 26 years of age who has held their driving licence for less than 2 years results in a EUR 250 deductible ('franchise permis récent') charged to the policyholder. This deductible is waived if the contract conditions particulières explicitly state the waiver and at least one driver under 26 is declared as a named driver on one of the insured vehicles.
repair_network_requirements
The insured is free to choose their own repairer ('libre choix du réparateur'). Before any repair, the policyholder must submit a written repair estimate to LALUX. Unless LALUX objects within two working days, repairs may proceed. In case of legitimate urgency or repairs costing less than EUR 500, repairs can proceed without prior authorisation if supported by a detailed invoice. Repair costs substantially exceeding standard professional rates in Luxembourg (for both authorised dealers and independent repairers) for the vehicle type concerned are excluded from coverage. For the replacement vehicle, the insured must use a LALUX-approved rental company in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Top Assistance is valid in the green card zone excluding Israel, Iran, Russia and Ukraine.
anti_theft_requirements
Theft of the insured vehicle is excluded if the ignition key was left inside the vehicle or in one of its locks at the time of theft. Theft, destruction or deterioration of audiovisual or transmission equipment committed without simultaneous theft of the vehicle is only covered if the equipment is permanently fixed to the vehicle and cannot be removed without fracturing or damaging it or the vehicle. In the event of theft, a police complaint or declaration must be filed immediately with the competent authorities, and indemnification only occurs after at least 30 days following receipt of the written loss declaration.
claim_notification_deadline
The policyholder and/or the insured must notify LALUX of any loss as soon as possible and in any case within 8 days of its occurrence. If this is impossible due to force majeure or fortuitous event, notification must be given as rapidly as can reasonably be done. All relevant information and documents must be provided without delay. In the event of theft or loss, the insured must notify LALUX by registered letter within 24 hours indicating the circumstances. In the event of theft, a police complaint must be filed within 12 hours. Failure to meet these obligations, if it causes prejudice to LALUX, may result in a reduction of the insurer's indemnity. In cases of fraudulent intent, LALUX may decline coverage entirely.
deductible_rules
Performance formula: no deductible applies for vehicle damage (Dégâts au véhicule) or total loss claims for type 1 vehicles, except in cases involving alcohol (2.5% of new value, min EUR 250, max EUR 620 if driver BAC >= 0.5 g/l; 20% of damage, min EUR 620, max EUR 2,500 if a non-policyholder driver had BAC >= 1.2 g/l). A EUR 250 'recent licence' deductible applies for drivers under 26 with less than 2 years' licence, unless waived per contract. Confort formula: same alcohol deductibles apply; franchise amounts defined in the Particular Conditions also apply. Civil liability deductibles (if any) are defined in Particular Conditions and capped at EUR 1,500/loss for individuals and EUR 6,000 for legal entities; these are unenforceable against injured third parties. Deductibles cumulate and cannot be waived. The Garantie Perte Totale deductible rules mirror the vehicle damage franchise rules.
