Online purchase

Direct payment

Geographic scope

Poland and EU member states under Green Card system

Mandatory OC coverage applies across Poland and all EU/EEA member states and associated territories under the multilateral Green Card agreement. Countries outside the Green Card system (e.g. non-EEA) require an optional Green Card add-on.

Unique selling points

  • Basic roadside assistance (150 km towing within Poland) is included as standard with the OC policy at no extra charge — many competitors offer it only as a paid add-on.
  • Fully digital purchase and claims process — policy can be bought, managed, and claims can be filed entirely online without visiting an agent or branch.
  • No kilometre deductible on basic assistance — roadside help is available even when the vehicle breaks down at the insured's home address.
  • Optional Green Card add-on available for travel outside the multilateral Green Card agreement zone, issued alongside the OC policy for a seamless coverage extension abroad.
  • Part of the established Direct Group (Czech Republic), with over 500,000 customers in Central and Eastern Europe and a regulated Polish branch supervised by the Czech National Bank (CNB).

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Mandatory OC coverage is valid in Poland and all EU/EEA member states and Switzerland under the multilateral Green Card agreement. Coverage in countries that are members of the Green Card system but not signatories to the multilateral agreement (e.g. certain non-EU countries) requires an optional Green Card document, available as a paid add-on.

Green card rules

The Green Card is an optional add-on document issued upon request for an additional fee. It confirms OC coverage for travel in Green Card member countries not covered under the multilateral agreement. Its validity period cannot exceed the underlying OC policy period. After a vehicle sale, the Green Card does not transfer to the new owner along with the OC policy.

Driver restrictions

There are no stated age or experience restrictions on who may drive the insured vehicle under the standard OC policy — Polish statutory MTPL law requires coverage for any driver of the vehicle. Individual pricing may reflect the primary driver's age, driving history, and no-claims record retrieved from the UFG database.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must be reported as promptly as possible after the incident. Direct Ubezpieczenia accepts claims online via the UNEXT portal, by phone at +48 22 123 55 55, or in person at an agent. Under Polish law (Act on Compulsory Insurance), the insurer must issue a decision within 30 days of receiving the claim notification, or within 14 additional days if circumstances require extended investigation, with an absolute maximum of 90 days.

Bonus-malus rules

Direct Ubezpieczenia applies a claims history-based pricing model (bonus-malus system). Premiums are individually calculated based on the policyholder's no-claims history as verified through the UFG (Insurance Guarantee Fund) database. Each claims-free year results in a discount; any at-fault claim leads to a reduction in the accumulated no-claims discount for the subsequent policy period. The exact bonus-malus table is not publicly disclosed but follows standard Polish market practice.
