Direct payment

ERGO Hestia organises cashless medical assistance through the 24/7 Emergency Call Centre (Centrum Alarmowe). The Call Centre selects hospitals, arranges transport and settles bills directly with medical facilities on behalf of the insured. If the Call Centre could not organise the service for reasons beyond its control, ERGO Hestia reimburses documented costs up to the applicable limits.

Worldwide (with zone options: Europe+Mediterranean, World excluding USA/Canada/China/Japan, or Full World depending on variant and policy type)

Coverage applies outside Poland and outside the country of residence of the insured. Syria, Antarctica and North Korea are excluded from all zones. For short-term policies the territorial scope matches the chosen regional zone; for annual policies Wariant I and II cover World excluding USA, Canada, China and Japan while Wariant III covers the full world.

Medical Assistance and Treatment Costs

Covers necessary and immediate medical assistance including hospitalisation and outpatient treatment, dental treatment (up to 2,000 PLN), medical consultations, physician-prescribed medications and orthopaedic/dressing materials, repair or purchase of glasses and prostheses after an accident (up to 2,000 PLN), and 24/7 Emergency Call Centre support. Medical Transport

COVID-19 Treatment and Mandatory Quarantine

Sudden illness caused by COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2 and its mutations) is covered as a regular illness within the medical expenses sum. Additionally, mandatory quarantine ordered by a physician or sanitary-epidemiological services is covered under the Podróż Assistance benefit: hotel accommodation with meals and return transport up to 10,000 PLN in all three variants. Quarantine mandatorily imposed by local authorities on travellers crossing borders of destination or transit countries is excluded.

Pre-existing and Chronic Conditions

Certain diagnosed chronic diseases and metabolic disorders are automatically covered without additional premium, provided the insured remains under medical supervision and follows the treating physician's recommendations: allergy, bronchial asthma, all types of diabetes, depression, discopathy, insulin resistance, atherosclerosis, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, hypertension, obesity. All other chronic conditions require the optional 'Choroby przewlekłe' extension (paid add-on) to be covered. If the insured is found not to have followed their physician's recommendations after assistance is provided, ERGO Hestia reserves the right to reclaim the costs of services rendered.

Winter Sports Coverage

Skiing and snowboarding on marked slopes are classified as 'ryzykowne' (risky) disciplines and require the optional 'Sport' extension for an additional premium. Off-piste skiing and snowboarding (freeride) are classified as 'ekstremalne' (extreme) and require the 'Sport wyczynowy' extension. Standard policy covers recreational sports only. The extensions cover consequences of accidents during the respective disciplines across all three variants.

Two optional extensions are available: (1) 'Sport' extension covers risky disciplines such as kitesurfing, horse riding, cross-country cycling, diving to 30 m, trekking to 5,300 m a.s.l., and many others. Pregnancy Complications

Childbirth is excluded from coverage unless it occurs before the 32nd week of pregnancy, in which case it is treated as an emergency medical event and covered within the medical expenses sum. Termination of pregnancy is excluded unless performed to save the life or health of the insured and legally permitted in the country where performed. Routine pregnancy treatment is not covered.
