Direct payment

In the event of a medical emergency, the insured must contact Mondial Assistance (available 24/7), which coordinates directly with medical providers. Where direct payment by the assistance company is not possible, the insured pays and is subsequently reimbursed by Allianz-Țiriac upon submission of supporting documents after return to Romania.

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

In case of medical emergency, accident or illness requiring hospitalization, the insured must notify Mondial Assistance immediately to coordinate medical care. If notification was not possible during the emergency, Allianz-Țiriac must be notified within 5 business days of return to Romania.

Unauthorized treatment

Medical services provided outside the insured territory or without connection to a medical emergency are not covered. The insurer may reduce or deny claims for medical expenses incurred without prior notification to the assistance company where notification was possible.

Purchase while abroad

If the insured is not on Romanian territory at the time of contract conclusion, coverage commences after 7 calendar days from the day following policy issuance and premium payment. If the travel start date coincides with the policy issuance date, coverage begins 2 hours after issuance.

Chronic conditions

Medical expenses resulting from an acute exacerbation of a pre-existing condition or chronic disease are covered up to a maximum of 1,000 EUR. Expenses related to cancer diagnosis/treatment or HIV/AIDS infection are not covered.
