Direct payment
AXA pays repair costs directly to the approved partner garage (tiers payant / derdebetalersysteem) under the Assistance Réparation service for cars and vans involved in a covered accident, deducting any applicable deductible and recoverable VAT. For claims outside the approved network, AXA reimburses the insured after repair.

Coverage limits
Own damage (Accident / Material Damage)
Optional
Covers damage to the insured vehicle caused by an accident, transport including loading and unloading, acts of vandalism or malice. Also covers damage from poor fuel quality, wrong fuel or AdBlue incorrectly added to the diesel tank. Excludes tyre-only damage in the absence of other damage, damage from wear, construction defect, poor maintenance, overloading, or damage caused by transported goods/animals. The compensation equals repair cost (as assessed by expert) plus non-recoverable VAT, plus extension costs, less any applicable deductible, subject to the proportional rule if insured value was understated. Indemnification is at actual value (real value) or agreed depreciation formula as per the chosen formula.

The vehicle is declared a total loss when: (1) technically impossible to repair (technical total loss); (2) repair costs including non-recoverable VAT exceed the actual value at the time of the claim plus registration tax minus salvage value as assessed by an expert (economic total loss); or (3) the insured may opt for total loss when repair costs excluding VAT exceed two-thirds of the insured value; or (4) the vehicle is stolen and not found within 30 days of the written claim declaration. Indemnity = vehicle value at time of claim (per chosen depreciation formula, based on months since first registration) + non-recoverable VAT + coverage extensions + applicable registration tax (TMC/BIV) – any applicable deductible, subject to the proportional rule. The maximum indemnity cannot exceed the insured value.

When the vehicle is repairable, indemnity = repair cost as assessed by the expert + non-recoverable VAT + coverage extension costs (e.g. emergency repair, towing, fire-fighting costs), multiplied by any applicable proportional rule, minus the applicable deductible. The proportional rule does not apply if the insured value was correctly declared. An English-type deductible (franchise anglaise) disappears entirely when repairs are carried out at an AXA approved partner garage and the repair cost (excl. VAT) exceeds the threshold indicated in the special conditions, or in the event of total loss.
SourceTheft and attempted theft
Optional
Covers disappearance or damage to the vehicle resulting from theft or attempted theft, as well as costs for replacing locks and/or recoding the anti-theft system if keys and/or remote controls are stolen. Exclusions include theft where the perpetrators or accomplices are household members, theft by the insured's employees, theft when the vehicle is unoccupied with essential precautions neglected (unlocked doors, windows/roof open, keys left in/on vehicle, required anti-theft system absent or not activated), unless the vehicle was in a locked individual garage that was broken into. In case of total theft, the vehicle is treated as a total loss if not recovered within 30 days of the written declaration.

Optional
Covers breakage or cracking of the windscreen, side windows, rear window and the transparent part of the roof. Does not apply in case of total loss, or if the damaged part is not repaired or replaced. For glass damage at approved partner garages (e.g. Fast Car Repair network), no formal damage declaration is required.
SourceNatural perils (Forces de la nature / Natuurkrachten)
Optional
Covers damage caused by flooding, hail, storm, falling stones, landslide, snow or ice pressure, avalanche or any other major natural force. Storm is defined as hurricanes or other windstorms attaining peak speeds of at least 80 km/h as recorded by the nearest Royal Meteorological Institute station, or damaging other comparable goods within 10 km of the damage site. Also covers damage caused by animals colliding with the exterior of the vehicle or entering the engine compartment or interior.

Covered under the Material Damage (Accident) guarantee of the Omnium formulas. Covers damage caused by acts of vandalism or malicious intent to the insured vehicle. Note: vandalism and malicious acts are explicitly excluded from the at-fault premium surcharge calculation (i.e. they do not count as at-fault claims for the bonus-malus system).

Included free of charge in the mandatory RC (liability) premium and also triggered by the Material Damage (Accident) cover. Covers: organisation and payment of on-site breakdown assistance or towing to any garage in Belgium (or nearest garage abroad within 30 km of borders) in case of traffic accident, fire, theft or attempted theft that renders the vehicle unable to drive. Also covers: return of non-injured occupants to home or destination (max EUR 125), care of minors under 18 (max EUR 65), towing abroad (max EUR 250 for non-organised towing). Telephone helpline available 24/7. Not triggered in case of breakdown or wrong fuel.

Optional guarantee providing a replacement vehicle (typically category B, not a motorcycle or quad) for up to 30 days from the date of the claim, when the insured vehicle is immobilised following a covered event. The duration varies by type of event and coverage subscribed: in case of an at-fault accident with Omnium, the vehicle is provided for the duration of repairs (max 30 days) if repairs are carried out at an AXA approved partner garage; only 3 working days if repairs are done elsewhere. In case of a right-of-way accident, the full duration of repairs (max 30 days) is granted. In case of total theft, up to 30 days. In case of glass breakage, up to 3 days. Natural perils with Mini-Omnium: 3 working days. At the time of returning the replacement vehicle to the rental company, AXA also organises and pays a taxi to the insured's chosen destination (garage or home). The vehicle must meet rental company conditions (minimum age, driving licence, possible credit card deposit). Insurance conditions for the replacement vehicle are agreed directly with the provider. The guarantee is obligatorily combined with the Vehicle Protection (with/without Omnium XL/XL Pro) and Omni-Assistance or Wegenhulp covers, or as an option with RC if the designated vehicle is a car, van, minibus or motorhome.

Optional coverage for bodily injury sustained by the insured driver as a result of a traffic accident, regardless of liability. Available in both an indemnitary mode ("Sécurité du conducteur") calculated on the basis of Belgian common law of damage repair (max EUR 1,500,000 per claim including principal and interest), or in a lump-sum (forfaitaire) mode based on agreed sums and the Official Belgian Scale of Invalidity (OBSI). The standard Vehicle Protection cover (Omnium) does not cover driver injury; this must be separately subscribed. Excluded: injuries resulting from intentional acts, gross negligence (alcohol >0.8 g/l, drugs, betting), non-compliance with compulsory protection regulations, technical inspection non-compliance, suicide/attempted suicide, competition participation.

driver_age_experience_limit
No explicit minimum or maximum driver age stated in the verified general conditions for the Vehicle Protection (casco) covers. The RC (liability) cover requires drivers to meet the minimum legal driving age applicable in Belgium. Young drivers under 18 may access certain moped/cyclo categories with specific conditions. The Assistance Vehicle cover applies to the designated vehicle regardless of driver identity, subject to general exclusions (e.g. driver without valid licence, or under disqualification in Belgium).

Repairs at an AXA approved partner garage (garage conventionné / geconventioneerde garage) unlock full benefits: (1) Assistance Réparation / Herstellingshulp: AXA pays the repair invoice directly to the garage (tiers payant), deducting any deductible and recoverable VAT; (2) Replacement vehicle provided for the full duration of repairs up to 30 days (instead of only 3 working days outside the network); (3) The English-type deductible (franchise anglaise / Engelse vrijstelling) is waived entirely when repair cost exceeds the threshold specified in the special conditions; (4) Repairs are carried out under an AXA quality guarantee. If the vehicle is repaired outside the approved network, the replacement vehicle is limited to 3 working days and the deductible always applies.

Vehicle Protection (casco) covers apply in: EU member states, Andorra, Monaco, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Vatican City, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Morocco, Montenegro, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, and the parts of Serbia and Cyprus under their respective government control. Replacement vehicle cover is limited to Belgium and within 30 km of Belgian borders. The Première Assistance / Eerste Hulp applies in Belgium and within 30 km of Belgian borders (with separate provisions for abroad).
anti_theft_requirements
An anti-theft system approved by AXA is required for the theft cover to apply. If the required anti-theft system is absent or was not correctly activated at the time of the theft or attempted theft, the theft cover does not apply (unless the vehicle was in a locked individual garage that was broken into). Costs for replacing or recoding the anti-theft system after key theft are also covered. A list of approved anti-theft systems and conditions is available from the intermediary.
claim_notification_deadline
In case of theft, attempted theft, vandalism or key theft: claim must be notified within 24 hours. In all other covered events (accident, fire, natural perils, glass breakage): claim must be notified within 8 days. The insured must also file a police report immediately in case of theft, attempted theft, vandalism or key theft (and upon return to Belgium if the theft occurred abroad). For the replacement vehicle following an accident, the claim must reach AXA within a maximum of 3 working days from the date of the claim to optimise the replacement vehicle period.
deductible_rules
Two optional deductible (franchise) formulas are available for the Vehicle Protection cover, specified in the special conditions: (1) Fixed deductible (franchise fixe): always borne by the insured and deducted from the indemnity for the Material Damage (Accident) and/or Theft covers; (2) English-type deductible (franchise anglaise): for the Material Damage (Accident) cover, the deductible is waived entirely when both conditions are met: (a) repair cost (excl. VAT) exceeds the threshold in the special conditions, AND (b) the insured uses an AXA approved partner garage. The English-type deductible is also always waived in case of total loss. The English-type deductible formula is exclusively reserved for cars, minibuses and motorhomes. For fire-extinguishing costs (frais d'extinction), no deductible applies.
