Direct payment
Under the mandatory liability cover, AXA compensates the injured third party directly and, where the insured is at fault, may exercise recourse against the insured; the policyholder is not required to pay the victim directly.

Legal Protection (Protection Juridique)

Optional legal protection covering amicable and judicial defence of the insured's interests (e.g. civil recourse, criminal defence, contractual disputes). The 'Full' formula caps intervention at EUR 125,000 per claim; the 'Fix' formula caps at EUR 25,000 per claim with lower sub-limits per type of action.

The insurance certificate ('green card') is issued as proof of the mandatory liability cover and lists the countries or parts of countries in which the vehicle is covered (around 38 European and neighbouring territories).
First Aid Assistance / Info Line

Free 24/7 Info Line and First Aid Assistance included automatically with the liability cover for eligible vehicles (cars, vans, minibuses, motorhomes, motorcycles up to 3.5 tonnes): towing (capped at EUR 250 if not organised by AXA, EUR 500 if towed via police-arranged F.A.S.T.), return trip or continuation of the journey, replacement transport for minors, psychological assistance, valid in Belgium and up to 30 km beyond the border, with limited towing cover further abroad.
Driver Accident Cover (Sécurité du Conducteur)

Optional 'Protection of Persons' cover indemnifying the driver of the insured vehicle for bodily injury or death from a road accident. Under the indemnitaire (compensatory) formula, total indemnity (principal plus interest) never exceeds EUR 1,500,000 per claim; lump-sum (forfaitaire) formulas pay agreed sums fixed in the policy schedule.

Territorial scope
Liability cover extends automatically to around 38 European and neighbouring territories listed on the insurance certificate (including all EU/EEA countries, the UK, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Cyprus government-controlled areas, Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey), unless the certificate states otherwise.
Green card rules
The green card/insurance certificate is the proof of liability cover; it becomes invalid as soon as the contract ends or is cancelled or suspended, and cover outside the listed territories is not guaranteed.
Driver restrictions
The vehicle must be driven by a person who has reached the legally required driving age and holds a valid licence for the vehicle category; if these conditions are breached, AXA may, within statutory limits, recover the indemnity paid from the policyholder or the driver at fault.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder or insured must report an accident to AXA as soon as possible and, in any case, no later than 8 days after it occurs.
Bonus-malus rules
The liability premium is personalised yearly on a scale from 100% (5 or more consecutive claim-free years) up to 130% (no claim-free years), and further increased up to 412.5% depending on the number of at-fault claims in the last 5 years; the 'Joker for You' benefit, if acquired, can neutralise the premium increase following the first at-fault claims.
