ADRIATIC
ADRIATIC is a motor casco insurance for the HR market with no online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
ADRIATIC performs natural restitution (restoring the insured vehicle to its pre-loss condition) or pays the corresponding monetary amount for damage, including other justified costs. ADRIATIC has the right to determine the repair location or organise and carry out the vehicle repair.
Geographic scope
Europe
Europe (all Green Card System member states and EEA member states); excludes Morocco, Moldova, Tunisia, Israel, Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran unless extended by contract
Unique selling points
- Full CASCO covers an exceptionally broad range of natural perils including not only storm, hail and lightning but also torrent flooding, high groundwater, landslides and rock avalanches — risks many competitors cover only partially.
- ADRIATIC offers an optional 'new value indemnity' add-on that pays 100% of the vehicle's purchase price in case of total loss within 12 months of first registration, avoiding depreciation deductions.
- Optional unlimited towing/extraction cost reimbursement is available as an add-on, replacing the standard EUR 1,000/EUR 2,000 cap — enabling full roadside protection even for costly recovery operations.
- Premium discounts of up to 50% are available for clients with five or more consecutive claim-free years at ADRIATIC, with a dedicated bonus protection buy-out preventing loss of accumulated discount after a single claim.
- ADRIATIC provides optional buy-out of alcohol-related exclusions (including the breathalyser obligation and the exclusion for BAC up to 0.99 g/kg), offering broader coverage compared to standard market practice.
Coverage limits
Own vehicle damage (traffic accident)
Covered
Covers damage or loss of the vehicle resulting from traffic accidents (prometna nesreća) and other sudden, brief, events independent of the will of the insured or driver. The maximum indemnity cannot exceed the premium calculation base stated in the policy (insured value). Repair costs are reduced by the market value of replaced parts. Deductible applies.
SourceTotal loss
Covered
Total loss exists when: the vehicle is destroyed; the vehicle disappears due to theft or unauthorized use and is not found within 30 days; or when estimated repair costs equal or exceed 75% of the market value of the vehicle (economic total loss). ADRIATIC compensates the amount the insured would need to acquire a vehicle of the same type and quality in the same state of wear at the time of the insured event (replacement value), reduced by the salvage value and the agreed deductible. Optional add-on: new value indemnity (100% purchase price within 12 months of first registration).
SourcePartial loss (vehicle damage repair)
Covered
Partial loss is damage that is not total loss, i.e. where repair is economically justified and technically feasible. Repair costs are reduced by the market value of replaced parts. Dismounting, mounting, and possible transport costs of parts are included. Parts that improve the vehicle technically or increase its value are not covered. The deductible applies.
SourceTheft, robbery and unauthorized vehicle use
Covered
Covers theft (criminal act of theft, grand theft, robbery and armed robbery) and unauthorized use of the vehicle. Theft risk is considered realized if the vehicle is taken with intent to illegally appropriate it and is not found within 30 days of filing the report with the competent authority. Indemnity is based on the replacement value. Exclusions: insured cannot present original keys and registration document; perpetrator is a member of the insured's immediate family living in the same household.
SourceGlass damage (windscreen, side, rear, roof glass) and lights/mirrors
Covered
Covers any breakage and/or damage to the windscreen, side or rear glass, glass sliding or fixed roof opening of the insured vehicle regardless of cause, except glass on lights and mirrors. Also covers any breakage and/or damage to lights and mirrors of the insured vehicle regardless of cause, with the entire assembly of lights and mirrors covered. Glass on lights and mirrors are covered only under the lights/mirrors clause, not the glass clause.
SourceNatural perils (storm, hail, lightning, landslide, avalanche, snow pressure, flood, water)
Covered
Full CASCO covers direct action of lightning (direct electrical atmospheric discharge), rock avalanche, rockfall, ground subsidence, snow avalanche, hail, storm (wind speed above 17.2 m/s i.e. 62 km/h), torrential flooding, water overflow, high water and/or groundwater, and floods. Storm-related damage that can be attributed to reckless driver behaviour is excluded. Partial CASCO covers: direct action of lightning and hail only.
SourceVandalism
Covered
Covers intentional acts by third parties causing damage and/or destruction to the insured vehicle. Also includes damages resulting from manifestations and demonstrations (organized or spontaneous public expression of group sentiment causing destruction, demolition, smashing and arson). Police report required.
SourceTowing and extraction costs
Covered
ADRIATIC covers costs of extraction, towing or transport of the damaged vehicle to the nearest workshop for temporary or final repair: up to EUR 1,000 for personal vehicles and motorcycles, up to EUR 2,000 for other vehicles. This limit can be extended to an unlimited amount via paid add-on. Also covers damage caused by destruction or damage to the vehicle that occurred during rescue operations and towing/transport.
SourceReplacement vehicle
Excluded
Costs of a replacement vehicle are explicitly listed as excluded costs under ADRIATIC CASCO terms (točka G/8.6). No standard replacement vehicle coverage is provided in the base product.
SourceDriver accident / personal accident cover
Excluded
Driver accident / personal accident coverage is not part of the standard CASCO product. The CASCO terms cover vehicle damage only. Separate accident insurance products exist but are not bundled into the standard CASCO policy.
SourceKey conditions
driver_age_experience_limit
No explicit minimum driver age or minimum experience requirement is stated in the standard CASCO policy terms. However, certain driver categories are treated as 'under the influence of alcohol' at lower BAC thresholds: Category C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D, D+E and H vehicle drivers; driving instructors; young drivers; and Category B drivers using the vehicle for professional purposes (e.g. taxi, ambulance drivers). Driving without a valid licence for the vehicle category is an exclusion.
repair_network_requirements
ADRIATIC has the right to determine the place of vehicle repair or organise and carry out the repair. The insured is obliged to enable ADRIATIC to inspect the vehicle or enable damage assessment, and to request permission for repair or renewal. ADRIATIC is entitled to give detailed instructions regarding the selection of a suitable service. For used (rabljenih) vehicles, damage is assessed exclusively on the basis of the vehicle's condition, photographs, and the 'Report on vehicle condition for CASCO insurance of used vehicles' prepared at the time of the insurance quote.
territorial_scope
Coverage extends to the geographic territory of Europe, and in any case to member states of the Green Card System or European Economic Area (EEA) member states, excluding: Morocco, Moldova, Tunisia, Israel, Azerbaijan, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, unless otherwise contracted. Optional extension to these excluded countries is available for an additional premium surcharge of 20% (territorial extension add-on, clause C/8).
anti_theft_requirements
Upon leaving the vehicle, the insured is obliged to: lock the vehicle, close windows and blinds (convertibles: raise roof), activate anti-theft devices, take all unattached and visible parts of the vehicle and vehicle registration documents. Vehicle keys and registration documents must be kept in a location not easily accessible to third parties. Mechanical and/or electronic vehicle keys, electronic remote anti-theft device controllers and vehicle registration documents must not be kept in the vehicle. Failure to meet these obligations is a coverage exclusion for theft risk.
claim_notification_deadline
The insured must report the insured event to ADRIATIC within 7 days from the date of the insured event or from the date of becoming aware of it, with as precise a factual description as possible. For theft, break-in, vandalism and fire: must immediately report to the nearest police station; police confirmation of report must be submitted with the claim. For traffic accidents, work accidents, animal collisions: must immediately report to the nearest police station; police confirmation together with performed breathalyser test must be submitted with the claim. For damage to third-party property: must report to the nearest police station in writing on the day the damage occurred. Failure to report a traffic accident to police or failure to provide breathalyser test evidence creates a presumption of intoxication and results in coverage exclusion.
deductible_rules
CASCO insurance must be contracted with a mandatory deductible (odbitna franšiza) – the contractually agreed participation of the insured in the incurred loss. The minimum nominal deductible amount is EUR 200 (per the current IPID AKP-03/25-A/B), and cannot be lower unless otherwise contracted. The deductible is stated in the policy and applies to each individual insured risk. Independently of the contracted deductible, a mandatory compulsory deductible also applies for the 2nd, 3rd, and each subsequent insured event within one insurance year: 2nd event: 15% of the damage amount, min EUR 200, max EUR 750; 3rd event: 30% of damage amount, min EUR 400, max EUR 1,500; 4th and each subsequent event: 50% of damage amount, min EUR 750, max EUR 4,000. The deductible can be bought out (Otkup ugovorene obvezne franšize) with a premium surcharge.
