Adriatic osiguranje pays compensation directly to the injured third party based on the liability of the insured. The insurer handles claims on behalf of the policyholder. The insured does not have the right to settle or acknowledge claims without the insurer's consent.

Unique selling points

  • Adriatic offers an individualised MTPL pricing model with 10 no-claims bonus classes and a maximum discount of 74% for long-term claim-free drivers.
  • Bonus classification is automatically transferred when replacing a vehicle or acquiring additional vehicles, provided the habitual driver remains the same — no bureaucratic re-application required.
  • Optional bonus protection (Zaštita bonusa) allows one at-fault claim per calendar year to be disregarded for reclassification purposes, preserving the earned discount.
  • 24/7 contact centre available 365 days a year via freephone 0800 10 05 (Croatia) or +385 1 6269 825 (abroad), covering 8 countries in the ZONA roadside assistance territory.
  • Policyholders can avoid a malus reclassification by voluntarily reimbursing the insurer's paid claim within 12 months after notification, for amounts not exceeding EUR 530.89.

Key conditions

territorial_scope

Coverage applies throughout geographic Europe and extra-European territories within the scope of EU validity. Where a Green Card is issued as part of the contract, coverage extends to non-European countries listed on the card unless their names are crossed out. The border insurance also covers Croatia, all EEA countries, and Switzerland.

green_card_rules

The Green Card is issued as part of the MTPL contract and serves as international proof of insurance. It extends coverage to non-European countries listed on the card unless crossed out. Coverage in EEA countries applies up to the minimum sums prescribed by the law of the country where the damage occurred. The contract and Green Card are governed by Croatian law.

driver_restrictions

The policyholder loses insurance rights if the driver, at the time of the accident, was under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level of 0.5 g/kg or more, or refused to undergo alcohol/drug testing. Rights are also lost in cases of unauthorized driving, driving without a valid licence, reckless driving, or intentionally caused damage. The insurer retains the right to seek partial or full reimbursement from the driver in these cases.

claim_notification_deadline

The insured must report any loss event that results in compensation payment by the insurer within three (3) days in written (text) form. In the event of a loss, the insured must also mitigate damages to the greatest possible extent and clarify the circumstances of the event.

bonus_malus_rules

The contract is assigned to a bonus class based on the claims history of the policyholder. Ten bonus classes apply to personal vehicles (M1), with a maximum bonus of 74% (coefficient 0.26) after 20 uninterrupted claim-free years, and two malus classes (S: 120%, M: 140%). Separate bonus tables apply to trucks, buses, motorcycles, and other vehicles. The bonus classification automatically transfers upon vehicle replacement or acquisition of additional vehicles if the habitual driver remains the same. Claims-free years with another insurer are recognised. Optional bonus protection (Zaštita bonusa) allows one claim per calendar year to be disregarded for reclassification purposes.
