Generali Česká pojišťovna a.s.
Generali
Generali is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Czech Republic market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Direct settlement is available only as the optional 'Přímá likvidace' (Direct Liquidation) add-on to MTPL. Where the at-fault vehicle had MTPL cover (or was an uninsured domestic vehicle) and repairs are carried out at a contracted repair shop, Generali can settle the claim directly with its own policyholder instead of the policyholder having to claim against the at-fault driver's insurer.
Geographic scope
European Union and European Economic Area
Coverage applies in the territory of EU Member States and other states forming the European Economic Area, in territories designated by the assembly of members of the Czech Insurers' Bureau, and in states marked on the Green Card.
Unique selling points
- 24/7 roadside assistance hotline (1224 domestically, +420 241 114 114 from abroad), including a dedicated SMS channel for deaf clients.
- EV-specific assistance covers towing to the nearest charging station and a technician callout for home wallbox faults.
- Optional 'Přímá likvidace' add-on lets a not-at-fault driver have damage settled directly by Generali instead of claiming against the at-fault driver's insurer.
- Windscreen repair by resin injection under the optional glass cover is provided with no deductible applied.
- An at-fault accident does not cost the driver their no-claims discount if Generali covers the damage to their own vehicle.
Coverage limits
Bodily injury / death liability
Covered
Covers the policyholder's legal liability for bodily injury or death caused to third parties by the operation of the insured vehicle. The indemnity limit per injured or deceased person is set in the policy contract, subject to the minimum required by the Act on Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance (ZPOV).
Property damage liability
Covered
Covers the policyholder's legal liability for property damage caused to third parties by the operation of the insured vehicle. The indemnity limit is set in the policy contract regardless of the number of injured/damaged parties, subject to the minimum required by ZPOV.
Legal defence costs (Právní náklady pojištěného)
Optional
Optional add-on to MTPL covering reasonably incurred legal defence costs (up to the customary non-contractual attorney fee) in preliminary proceedings, first-instance criminal proceedings, or equivalent administrative proceedings connected with an event in which the insured vehicle may have caused injury. The limit is set in the policy contract.
Green Card (proof of MTPL insurance)
Covered
The Green Card is a certificate confirming that MTPL cover is in place; it allows the insured vehicle to enter and be operated in the countries listed on it, and indicates in which states the MTPL cover is valid. It is issued at policy inception and renewed automatically before its expiry.
Roadside / breakdown assistance (Pojištění Asistence)
—
Only in S, M, L, XL, Souprava

Key conditions
Territorial scope
MTPL cover applies in the territory of EU Member States and other states forming the European Economic Area, in territories designated by the assembly of members of the Czech Insurers' Bureau, and in states marked on the Green Card.
Green card rules
The Green Card certifies that MTPL cover is in place and permits the insured vehicle to enter and be operated in the countries listed (not crossed out) on it; the driver must present it during a roadside check abroad. A new card is issued automatically before the current one expires.
Driver restrictions
ZPOV allows Generali to seek reimbursement from the insured of amounts already paid under MTPL in specific cases, for example where the insured drove without a valid driving licence, drove after consuming alcohol, or refused to submit to a test for its presence.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must notify Generali of a claim event without undue delay ('bez zbytečného odkladu'); the current (2025) general terms no longer specify a fixed number of days for this notification for motor liability claims (an earlier 2023 edition of the terms referenced a 30-day deadline).
Bonus-malus rules
Premiums reflect prior claims history using actuarial methods based on: (a) number of months the base insurance lasted, (b) number of claims events during that period, and (c) continuous duration of the base insurance. These inputs are considered only within the same insurance type (MTPL or Casco) and the same vehicle group (e.g. motorcycles; cars/trucks/special vehicles up to 3,500 kg; vehicles over 3,500 kg; semi-trailer tractors; buses/trolleybuses; tractors/self-propelled machines; trailers; other vehicles), using data no older than 20 years, and for MTPL only data taken from the Czech Insurers' Bureau database for domestic insurers.
