ERGO Insurance SE
ERGO
ERGO is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Estonia market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Under mandatory MTPL, ERGO compensates the injured third party directly, in place of the party at fault, for damage caused by the insured vehicle.
Geographic scope
Estonia
Cover applies in the European Economic Area contracting states, the Swiss Confederation, and other countries indicated on the Green Card.
Unique selling points
- Includes free Europe-wide accident towing (ERGO Liiklus+) as standard, without needing to buy an add-on.
- 10% price discount when the policy is purchased online instead of other channels.
- Free phone access to lawyers for behavioural guidance via the ERGO legal-advice line.
- Broad menu of optional riders (wild-animal collision, replacement car, driver accident, legal expenses) that can be tailored to individual needs.
- Fast claims handling, with most motor claims resolved within one working week.
Coverage limits
Bodily injury liability
€6,450,000
Compensation for personal injury caused to a third party in a traffic accident occurring in Estonia, up to EUR 6,450,000 per insured event.
Property damage liability
€1,300,000
Compensation for damage to a third party's property caused in a traffic accident occurring in Estonia, up to EUR 1,300,000 per insured event.
Legal expenses insurance
Optional
Optional additional cover for the insured's legal interests in disputes arising from contractual obligations, property rights, and non-contractual disputes related to the insured vehicle; a legal-advice phone line with lawyers is available. The sum insured is specified in the individual policy.
Green Card
Covered
The Green Card is a policy document proving that cover extends beyond Estonia and other EEA contracting states to third countries listed on the card; issued by ERGO to the policyholder or the nominated insured person upon request.
ERGO Liiklus+ post-accident towing (base) / ERGO Autoabi breakdown assistance (optional)
Covered
Included as standard: with the ERGO Liiklus+ service, following an MTPL claim, ERGO tows a normally-used passenger car, van or motorcycle free of charge from the accident scene to the nearest repair shop or storage location anywhere in Europe by calling +372 655 5401 or ordering online. Full breakdown assistance for non-accident events (flat battery, fuel delivery, flat tyre, stuck vehicle, lost keys) requires the separate optional ERGO Autoabi rider.
Driver accident insurance
Optional
Optional additional cover paying a benefit if a traffic accident causes the vehicle driver permanent disability or death. The sum insured for death and for permanent disability is stated in the individual insurance contract; only available with an annual contract for normally-used passenger cars and vans (M1, M1G, N1, N1G).
Passenger accident insurance
No limit stated
No dedicated passenger accident insurance product is described in the reviewed sources; ERGO's optional accident cover applies only to the vehicle driver, not passengers (passengers may claim as third parties under bodily injury liability).
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Cover applies in all European Economic Area contracting states, the Swiss Confederation, and any additional third countries indicated on the Green Card; the applicable law is generally that of the country where the insured event occurred.
Green card rules
The Green Card is issued by ERGO to the policyholder or the nominated insured person upon request, and proves that cover also applies in third countries marked on the card, beyond Estonia and other EEA states.
Driver restrictions
Optional additional covers (moose collision, roadside assistance, driver accident, legal expenses, replacement car) may only be selected for normally-used passenger cars and vans (categories M1, M1G, N1, N1G) and only with annual contracts; such vehicles may not be used for short-term rental, alarm response, driving instruction, freight, courier, taxi services or ride-sharing (e.g. Uber, Bolt/Taxify). Driver accident benefits are not paid if the driver lacked the right to drive the relevant vehicle category at the time of the event. Contracts generally may only be concluded by persons at least 18 years old.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must notify ERGO of a traffic accident without delay and follow the insurer's instructions; for driver accident claims, notification must be made at the first opportunity, providing details of the incident and expected treatment period.
