Direct payment

Roadside assistance (Autopalvelu) is paid without a deductible directly to the service provider. Repair costs are paid directly to the repair shop designated by the insurer. The insurer has the right to designate the repair shop or procurement source.

Geographic scope

FI

Valid throughout Europe and in Green Card agreement countries outside Europe, except Russia east of the Urals; theft cover for private passenger cars and motorcycles not valid in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, or Moldova (Super/Isokasko); Osakasko theft cover also not valid in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland and cannot be extended.

Unique selling points

  • Superkasko includes replacement vehicle cover as a standard benefit — a substitute car is delivered to the breakdown site for up to 7 days for technical faults and up to 30 days for covered casco losses, with no deductible.
  • Roadside assistance (Autopalvelu) is included with no deductible and covers towing, on-site repairs, and additional travel/accommodation costs up to EUR 500; in ETA countries abroad, Superkasko also covers a rental car up to EUR 1,200 for up to 7 days.
  • Storm and hail damage is covered under the collision cover and does not reduce the no-claims bonus, even during the off-road deregistration period provided the vehicle has not been driven.
  • New-value (uusarvo) redemption is built into the base Superkasko for private passenger cars up to 3 years old and 60,000 km when repair costs exceed 50% of a new equivalent vehicle's cash price — no separate add-on required.
  • OP owner-customers concentrating their banking and insurance with OP Group receive discounts of nearly 18% on bonus-eligible casco insurance and earn OP bonuses that can be used to pay insurance premiums.

Coverage limits

Collision damage (Vaunuvahinko)

Covered

Covers damage immediately caused to the insured vehicle by running off the road or overturning, road collapse, collision, or other sudden and unforeseeable external cause. Maximum compensation is the fair market value of the vehicle at the time of the loss.

Source

Total loss / New-value redemption (Uusarvolunastus)

Covered

If repair costs exceed 60% of the vehicle's fair market value, the insurer may redeem the vehicle at fair market value. Under Superkasko new-value redemption applies if the vehicle is max 3 years old, has driven max 60,000 km, and repair costs exceed 50% of the cash sale price of a new equivalent vehicle. Optional Superlunastus add-on allows redemption at new cash price or fair value plus up to 30%.

Source

Partial loss / Repair compensation

Covered

If the insured vehicle or part thereof is damaged but can be repaired at reasonable cost, the compensation equals the repair costs. Age-appropriate used parts may be used. The insurer is not obligated to replace repairable damaged parts with new ones.

Source

Theft and unauthorised use (Varkausvakuutus)

Covered

Covers loss or damage to the insured vehicle caused by theft, theft as defined in Criminal Code Chapter 28, unauthorised use, joyriding, or attempts thereof, provided the vehicle was locked as required and the policyholder has reported the offence to the police. If the vehicle is not found within 30 days of reporting to the insurer, the loss of the vehicle is compensated. Theft cover for private passenger cars and motorcycles is not valid in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, or Moldova (Superkasko); higher deductible applies for theft in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland (20% of loss, minimum EUR 600).

Source

Glass cover (Lasivakuutus)

Optional

Optional add-on for Superkasko. Covers damage to a window glass caused by a direct impact. Deductible applies if glass is replaced (as stated in policy schedule); no deductible if glass is repaired without replacement. Does not cover glass damage caused by collision, running off the road, or overturning (those fall under collision cover).

Natural perils (storm, hail) via collision cover

Covered

Storm and hail damage to the vehicle is covered under the collision cover (Vaunuvahinkovakuutus) as an external sudden and unforeseeable cause. Storm/hail damage does not reduce the no-claims bonus. During deregistration from traffic use, storm and hail damage under collision cover is still compensated provided the vehicle has not been driven.

Source

Vandalism (Ilkivaltavakuutus)

Covered

Covers damage to the insured vehicle caused by intentional malicious acts where the time and place of the event can be precisely determined. Does not cover damage caused by another vehicle, damage to an unlocked vehicle used without authorisation, or damage inside an unlocked parked vehicle.

Source

Roadside assistance (Autopalveluvakuutus)

Covered

Included in Superkasko without a deductible. Covers towing and road recovery costs to the nearest suitable repair shop, on-site repair costs (up to the towing cost amount), and additional travel or accommodation costs up to EUR 500 (Superkasko) when a journey is interrupted due to vehicle breakdown, damage, or theft. In foreign ETA countries, Superkasko also covers rental car costs up to EUR 1,200 for max 7 days. Roadside assistance cover is removed if the vehicle is over 15 years old at the start of a new policy period.

Replacement vehicle / Consequential loss cover (Keskeytysturva)

Covered

Included in Superkasko. For personal cars: provides a replacement vehicle delivered to the breakdown location for up to 7 days when a journey is interrupted due to a technical fault; provides a replacement vehicle for up to 30 days or EUR 50 daily allowance when the car is under repair following a covered casco loss. Maximum compensation period is 30 days (14 days if vehicle is redeemed). No deductible. Daily allowance of EUR 40 or EUR 90 per day is available for other vehicle types as an optional add-on.

Driver accident cover

Excluded

Driver personal accident cover is not a component of the Superkasko product. Personal injuries to the driver and passengers in the insured vehicle's own accident are not covered under casco insurance; these are addressed by the mandatory traffic insurance (liikennevakuutus) or separate personal accident policies.

Key conditions

driver_age_experience_limit

No explicit minimum driver age requirement for Superkasko coverage itself. However, the driver must hold a valid driving licence issued by a competent authority corresponding to the vehicle category, or have an age-based right to drive. The vehicle may not be handed over to another person without verifying their identity and driving entitlement.

repair_network_requirements

The insurer has the right to designate the repair shop or procurement source. The policyholder must contact the insurer for this purpose. Age-appropriate used parts may be used where available without causing repair delays. The insurer is not responsible for repair quality; liability rests with the service provider or supplier.

territorial_scope

Superkasko is valid throughout Europe and in Green Card agreement countries outside Europe, except in Russia east of the Urals. Theft cover for private passenger cars and motorcycles under Superkasko is not valid in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, or Moldova unless separately agreed. Roadside assistance under Osakasko is valid only in Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark. Foreign liability cover is valid in Green Card countries outside the EEA, except Iran, Tunisia, and Morocco.

anti_theft_requirements

The vehicle must be locked as specified in the policy terms (locked body compartment for cars). Key-related information must not be stored in the vehicle or its storage space. If keys are lost, the immobiliser must immediately be re-coded so the lost keys cannot start the vehicle, and the vehicle must be secured with a mechanical lock in the meantime. VAT-approved electronic immobilisers and alarm systems are recommended and may affect the deductible.

claim_notification_deadline

The policyholder must notify the insurer of a loss without delay in writing, and provide all documents and information relevant to the claim. For fire, theft, vandalism, and wildlife collisions (other than reindeer), the policyholder must immediately notify the local police. The vehicle must be made available for inspection by the insurer before repairs begin. Compensation must be claimed within 1 year of becoming aware of the insurance coverage, the loss, and its consequences, and in any case within 10 years of the loss event.

deductible_rules

All covered losses carry a per-event deductible as stated in the policy schedule. The collision cover deductible can be selected (options per Kamux/dealer channel: EUR 200, 500, 1,000, or 1,500). Standard deductible for theft, fire, vandalism, wildlife collision, and foreign liability is EUR 150 per the product guide. For theft events outside the Nordic countries, the deductible is doubled; for theft in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, or Poland it is 20% of the loss amount, minimum EUR 600. Roadside assistance has no deductible. Legal protection cover deductible is 15% of costs, minimum EUR 200 per event. If vandalism and theft occur simultaneously, only one deductible is deducted.
