Coverage limits
All-accident damage (own vehicle)
Covered
Covers all accidental damage to the insured vehicle caused by a collision, impact against a fixed or mobile body, road departure, fire, explosion, or any other accidental event for which the insured is responsible or where no third party is identifiable. Tyres are covered when their damage is incidental to vehicle damage. Justified towing and breakdown costs to the nearest garage are also covered. Excluded: mechanical breakdowns, acts of vandalism (covered separately), depreciation, and damage occurring when the vehicle had not met technical inspection obligations.
SourceTotal loss (economically irreparable vehicle)
Covered
When the expert determines that repair costs exceed the vehicle's replacement value, the vehicle is declared economically irreparable. Indemnity is based on: purchase value (for up to 3 years from purchase date, capped at Argus value +30%), or replacement value as assessed by the expert, with a guaranteed minimum of 1,100 EUR (net of wreck value) for vehicles over 5 years old. New vehicles under 1 year old are indemnified at new value. The 'valeur d'achat' option extends purchase-price indemnification to 3 years. Does not apply to vehicles over 3.5 t, 2–3 wheelers, quads, trailers, caravans, leasing/LLD vehicles, taxis, ambulances, or driving schools.
SourcePartial loss (repairable vehicle)
Covered
When repair costs are less than or equal to the replacement value, the indemnity equals the cost of repairs as determined by the expert. For vehicles new or under 1 year old: if repair costs are at or below 2/3 of original purchase value, indemnity equals repair cost. If costs exceed 2/3 of original purchase value and the policyholder does not cede the vehicle, indemnity equals actual value (valeur réelle). Indirect damages and depreciation are excluded. Repairs may include reconditioned parts at the expert's discretion.
SourceVehicle theft and robbery
Covered
Covers fraudulent disappearance or deterioration of the insured vehicle resulting from theft or attempted theft by: vehicle break-in, break-in of the garage where the vehicle is parked, or violence against the vehicle's custodian or owner. Also covers isolated theft of vehicle components (including wheels) and resulting damage. Anti-theft system must be activated and prevention measures observed (keys removed, steering column locked, windows and sunroof closed, doors/bonnet/boot locked). If no break-in is evidenced, theft damage is not covered. Theft indemnification is paid within 40 days of declaration if all required documents are provided within 30 days. Also covers 'Vol isolé des éléments composant le véhicule' (Section 4.4) as a separate sub-guarantee.
SourceGlass damage (windshield and glazing)
Covered
Section 4.8 covers isolated breakage of: windshield, side windows, rear window, door windows, and fixed panoramic roof. Repair/replacement costs are covered upon presentation of a paid invoice. Section 4.9 additionally covers isolated breakage of front headlight lens blocks and their protection, front indicator lights, long-range headlights, front fog lights, sunroof glass, exterior mirror glass. Excluded from 4.8: vandalism, terrorism, depreciation, headlight lens blocks, rearview mirrors, rear/front indicator lights, door deflectors, sunroof glass, mirror support brackets. The Presto Glace service allows no-deductible windscreen repair at the location of the policyholder's choice.
SourceNatural perils (natural disasters, weather events, terrorism)

Section 4.12: Climatic events (when not declared a natural disaster) — covers damage from storm, flooding, landslide or ground movement, avalanche, falling rocks, hail. Section 4.6: Terrorism and acts of terrorism — covers direct material damage including decontamination costs, on French territory; excludes vandalism, sabotage, riots. All three sub-coverages include justified towing/breakdown costs.
SourceVandalism damage
Covered
Section 4.2: Covers all accidental deteriorations suffered by the insured vehicle when resulting from acts of vandalism (acts caused with the intent to deteriorate or destroy). Coverage is extended by reference to the guarantees indicated in the table of guarantee amounts and deductibles according to the chosen formula. Justified towing and breakdown costs to the nearest garage are also included. Excluded: mechanical breakdowns, depreciation, and events covered by other specific guarantees (theft, fire, terrorism, electrical/electronic damage, glass breakage, natural/technological disasters, climatic events). A police report receipt (récépissé de dépôt de plainte) is required.

SourceKey conditions
driver_age_experience_limit
A 'novice driver' is defined as any driver who either (a) has held a driving licence for fewer than 3 years, or (b) cannot demonstrate continuous insurance coverage during the 3 years preceding subscription. Novice drivers are subject to a premium surcharge (surprime) of up to 100% of the reference premium (reduced to 50% for drivers who obtained their licence under the accompanied driving programme), which decreases by half after each claim-free year. An additional novice driver deductible (franchise conducteur novice) is applied on top of the standard deductible chosen at subscription when the driver at the time of loss is an undesignated novice. This additional franchise is not applied if the driver is one of the policyholder's employees acting within the scope of their duties.
repair_network_requirements
Repairs under the Auto Presto service must be carried out by a Groupama-approved repairer ('réparateur agréé Auto Presto') — Groupama selects the repairer. Repairs carried out through Groupama's approved network are guaranteed for the lifetime of the repaired vehicle, provided the policyholder remains insured with Groupama. For loan vehicles and Location Pro, a paid invoice from an automotive professional must be presented. The expert may authorise the use of reconditioned parts ('pièces de réemploi') as part of the assessed repair cost. Windscreen repair under the Presto Glace service is carried out at the policyholder's chosen location (home or workplace) with no deductible applicable.
territorial_scope
Guarantees apply in Metropolitan France, Overseas Departments, Regions and Territories (DOM-TOM), and for trips of less than one year in: all EU Member States, countries where the international insurance card (carte verte) is valid, Principalities of Andorra, Monaco, and Liechtenstein, Vatican City States, and the Republic of San Marino. Guarantees also apply when the vehicle is being transported between two countries both within the territorial scope. Exception: the Terrorism guarantee applies only in Metropolitan France, DOM-ROM, Mayotte, Wallis and Futuna, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Martin, and French Polynesia. The Legal Protection (purchase/sale of vehicle) guarantee applies only for disputes arising from events in France, Monaco, or Andorra. Vehicle assistance covers Europe up to the Urals and the Mediterranean basin.
anti_theft_requirements
If specified in the personal conditions, the policyholder must equip the vehicle with an anti-theft system installed by a professional. Regardless, the policyholder must always: remove all vehicle start-enabling elements (ignition keys, electronic badges); activate the steering column locking system; close the sunroof and windows; lock the doors, bonnet, and boot; activate any required protection systems. If a theft occurs without evidence of break-in ('effraction'), theft damages are not covered. Theft of vehicle components and theft damages following failure to install required protection systems or to observe prevention measures are also excluded. Theft by the insured's employees, family members, or accomplices is excluded.
claim_notification_deadline
For all claims: the insured must declare the loss as soon as aware, and no later than within 5 working days (jours ouvrés), except for specific shorter deadlines: theft — 2 working days; glass breakage — 5 working days (paid invoice to be submitted within 30 days); natural disasters — as soon as aware and no later than 10 days after publication of the interministerial order; technological disasters — within 10 days of publication of the order; driver accident (bodily injury) — 10 days after the accident; legal protection disputes — within 30 working days of becoming aware of the dispute. Failure to meet the declaration deadline results in loss of guarantee if it can be proven that the delay caused prejudice to the insurer, unless justified by force majeure.
deductible_rules
Three types of deductibles may apply: (1) Standard deductible chosen by the policyholder at subscription, specified in personal conditions and applicable to: all-accident damage, vandalism damage, vehicle theft, isolated theft of vehicle components, fire, electrical/electronic damage, glass breakage (if chosen), and climatic events. This deductible does NOT apply to content/fittings/car radio damages, nor to the Location Pro rental allowance. (2) Novice driver deductible, specified in personal conditions, applied in addition to the standard deductible when the driver at the time of loss is an undesignated novice driver; not applicable if the driver is a salaried employee of the insured acting within their duties. (3) Natural disaster deductible, fixed per loss event declared as a natural disaster by interministerial decree; for professional motor vehicles the higher of this or the standard deductible applies; this portion of the risk cannot be separately insured. For glass breakage, the policyholder may choose between two deductible levels or a no-deductible option at subscription. Groupama commits to never applying the proportional capital rule.
