Regulatory updates
In December 2025, Baloise Holding AG and Helvetia Holding AG completed a merger of equals to form Helvetia Baloise Holding AG, creating the second-largest insurance group in Switzerland and a leading European insurer. For the German entities, this initially brought no legal/structural changes; from 8 December 2025 the German operations began using the name 'Helvetia Baloise in Deutschland' while Baloise and Helvetia continued operating under their existing brands and products. Since May 2026, the group has appeared under the unified 'Helvetia' brand in Germany, while the legal risk carriers (Baloise Sachversicherung AG Deutschland and Baloise Lebensversicherung AG Deutschland) remain separate, supervised by BaFin, until planned legal consolidation by 2027. The merged group also announced plans to cut up to 2,600 jobs group-wide by 2028, including 260-330 positions in Germany, as part of cost-saving measures.
