Geographic scope

Geographical borders of Europe (including the European part of Turkey) and non-European territories belonging to the EU

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe (including the European part of Turkey) and non-European EU territories; if an International Insurance Card (Green Card) has been issued, cover extends to additional non-European countries listed on the card, unless crossed out.

Unique selling points

  • Liability cover of up to 100 million euros for property and financial loss, far above the statutory minimum, in every tariff including Basis.

  • Mallorca-Police included at no extra charge in the Komfort and Premium tariffs, topping up liability cover for rental cars driven abroad.
  • Cover for damage caused to the policyholder's own other vehicles, buildings or property (not just third parties) up to 150,000 euros (Komfort) or 200,000 euros (Premium) per year.

Claims Handling / Defence Against Unjustified Claims

Covered

AdmiralDirekt is authorized to settle justified claims in the policyholder's name and defends unjustified or excessive third-party claims at its own cost; this is part of the core liability cover, not a separately capped legal-expenses product.

International Insurance Card (Green Card)

Covered

If issued, the International Insurance Card extends MTPL cover to non-European countries listed on the card, provided the country name is not crossed out; scope of cover follows the standard rule (host-country minimum or contract scope, whichever is higher).

Source

Roadside Assistance (Schutzbrief)

Optional

Roadside assistance is provided via the separately selectable Schutzbrief (breakdown/accident assistance) policy, available alongside all three tariffs only if separately agreed and named in the Versicherungsschein/Nachtrag; it is not automatically included in MTPL.

Driver Accident Insurance (Fahrerunfallversicherung)

Optional

Pays agreed lump sums for invalidity or death of the authorized driver following an accident while driving the insured vehicle; available in all three tariffs only if separately agreed and named in the Versicherungsschein/Nachtrag, with sums insured individually agreed.

Passenger Accident Insurance

Excluded

AdmiralDirekt does not offer a standalone accident insurance for passengers; the Fahrerunfallversicherung explicitly covers only the authorized driver, not passengers/Beifahrer. Passengers injured by the insured vehicle remain covered under the third-party bodily injury liability section if the policyholder or driver is at fault.

Key conditions

Territorial scope

Cover applies within the geographical borders of Europe (including the European part of Turkey) and non-European territories belonging to the EU; the scope follows the mandatory insurance requirements of the visited country, at minimum the scope of the contract.

Green card rules

If AdmiralDirekt has issued an International Insurance Card, MTPL cover extends to the non-European countries named on the card, unless the country name has been crossed out; the extent of cover in those countries follows the same host-country rule as within Europe.

Driver restrictions

The vehicle may only be used by an authorized driver holding the required driving licence; it must not be driven, or allowed to be driven, by anyone unable to safely operate it due to alcohol or other intoxicating substances.

Claim notification deadline

Every claim event that may lead to a benefit must be reported to AdmiralDirekt within one week; if a claim is asserted against the policyholder, this must also be reported within one week of the claim being raised.

Bonus-malus rules

The contract is classified into a no-claims (Schadenfreiheits-) class based on its claims history; a claim-free year moves the contract to a better class at the start of the next period, while a year with claims leads to a rueckstufung (downgrade) according to fixed tables, with options such as Rabattschutz or voluntary repayment of the claim (Schadenrueckkauf) available to avoid a downgrade.
