Generali
Generali is a motor third-party liability insurance for the DE market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.

Coverage limits
Bodily injury liability
Covered
Cover for bodily injury or death caused to third parties by use of the vehicle. Flat sum of 100 million EUR per claim event for personal, property and financial losses combined; for bodily injury a maximum of 15 million EUR per injured person. Legal minimum: 7,500,000 EUR per claim event.
SourceProperty damage liability
Covered
Cover for property damage caused to third parties by use of the vehicle. Covered within the flat 100 million EUR limit per claim event (combined with bodily injury and financial loss). Legal minimum: 1,300,000 EUR per claim event.
SourceLegal defence (defence of unfounded claims)
Covered
The insurer defends unfounded third-party claims against the policyholder at the insurer's own cost, including where claims are unfounded as to amount. The insurer holds full power of attorney to settle or defend claims in the policyholder's name.
SourceInternational Insurance Certificate (Green Card)
Covered
MTPL cover automatically extends to all EU/EEA states and other Green Card system countries. For travel to non-European Green Card countries, the policyholder should request a printed Green Card from Generali prior to travel; the insurer issues it on request. If the Green Card has been issued, coverage extends to non-European countries listed therein (where country codes are not crossed out). The maximum payment in those countries is limited to the legally required minimum sums applicable in the country of visit, deviating from the contractually agreed sums.
SourceRoadside assistance / Breakdown service (Kfz-Schutzbrief)
Optional
Roadside assistance (Kfz-Schutzbrief) is available as an add-on to the MTPL policy (Kfz-Haftpflichtversicherung mit Schutzbriefleistungen, clause A.1.1.7) or as a standalone optional component. It covers breakdown recovery up to 300 EUR, towing up to 300 EUR, vehicle recovery, trip continuation costs, hotel accommodation up to 85 EUR/night for up to 3 nights, and additional international travel assistance. Coverage territory: geographical Europe and EU overseas territories.
SourceDriver accident coverage (FahrerPLUS)
Optional
The FahrerPLUS insurance covers personal injury losses of the authorised driver (and passengers) caused by an accident in connection with the use of the vehicle. Benefits are calculated based on actual personal injury loss (e.g. loss of earnings, pain and suffering, survivors' pensions) as if a third party were liable under German civil law. Cover limit equals the MTPL bodily injury sum. Available as an optional add-on.
SourcePassenger accident coverage (Kfz-Unfallversicherung / FahrerPLUS)
Optional
Passenger accident coverage is available either via the separate Kfz-Unfallversicherung (A.4, fixed sum system, pauschal or per-seat basis) or the FahrerPLUS insurance (A.5, actual-loss basis). The Kfz-Unfallversicherung covers authorised occupants for accidental bodily injury or death in connection with the use of the vehicle; benefits include invalidity lump sum, daily allowance, and death benefit. Both options are available as optional add-ons.

territorial_scope
MTPL coverage applies within the geographical borders of Europe and the non-European territories belonging to the European Union. In the visited country, the legally prescribed scope of insurance applies, but at minimum the scope agreed in the policyholder's own contract. With the Green Card, coverage extends to listed non-European countries, but the maximum payment is limited to the locally applicable statutory minimum sums in the country of visit (clause A.1.4).
green_card_rules
The insurer issues the Green Card upon request. If issued, the coverage extends to non-European countries listed on the card, provided the country name is not crossed out. Maximum payment in those countries deviates from the contractual sums and is capped at the local statutory minimum amounts applicable in the country of visit (clause A.1.4.2).
driver_restrictions
The vehicle may only be used by an authorised driver, i.e. a person who uses the vehicle with the knowledge and consent of the person entitled to dispose of it. The policyholder, registered keeper and owner must not knowingly permit use by an unauthorised driver. The driver must hold the required driving licence for use on public roads (clauses D.1.1.2, D.1.1.3).
claim_notification_deadline
Each claim event that may give rise to a payment must be notified to the insurer within one week (clause E.1.1.1). If a third party asserts a claim out of court, this must be reported within one week of the claim being raised (clause E.1.2.1). Court proceedings (e.g. lawsuits or payment orders) must be reported immediately (clause E.1.2.3). In the event of vehicle theft or loss of vehicle keys, police must be notified immediately.
bonus_malus_rules
The contract is classified into no-claims bonus classes (SF-Klassen) for both MTPL and comprehensive insurance. Classification is reviewed annually on 1 January. A claim-free year leads to advancement to the next better class; a claim-burdened year results in downgrading according to the tables in Appendix 1. For passenger cars, SF-classes range from SF 35 (20% rate) to M (135% rate). An optional Rabattschutz (bonus protection) prevents downgrading on the first claim within a calendar year in MTPL and comprehensive. If Rabattschutz is agreed, the SF-class is maintained in the following year even after a claim, up to a maximum of three claims during the entire Rabattschutz period; after the third claim, the Rabattschutz arrangement terminates for both covers (clauses I.1–I.5, I.3.3).
