INTERLIFE General Insurance Company S.A.
INTERLIFE
INTERLIFE is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Greece market with no online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
INTERLIFE handles third-party claims directly on behalf of the insured. The company, at its discretion, may assume full or partial representation of the insured to resolve disputes out-of-court or in court. Compensation to injured third parties is paid in accordance with P.D. 237/1986 and the Bank of Greece Executive Committee Act 87/5.4.2016, which requires a reasoned written offer within three months of the third-party's compensation claim when liability is not disputed and the damage has been assessed.
Geographic scope
All of Greece
Mandatory MTPL coverage applies within Greek territory, EU member states, EEA countries, and countries whose National Green Card bureaux are bound to apply Part III of the Consolidated Agreement. For non-EEA third countries, a Green Card (international insurance certificate) is required, issued on written request and payment of additional premium.

The insured capital is €1,300,000 per person per occurrence. Passengers of the insured vehicle are also covered as third parties. The insured sum is printed on the coverage table of each policy and cannot be exceeded including capital, interest, court costs, and any third-party fees.
Property damage liability to third parties

Mandatory coverage for material damage caused to third-party property (other vehicles, property not belonging to family members, and not carried on the insured vehicle) arising from the negligent circulation of the insured vehicle. The insured capital is €1,300,000 per occurrence. The insurer's total liability, including capital, interest, and all fees, cannot exceed the amount stated on the policy coverage table (STOP LOSS clause).
Legal protection / defence
Optional
Optional legal protection coverage for road accidents occurring in Greece, covering: civil claims for property damage and bodily injury; criminal defence; counter-claims; driver defence in criminal courts; administrative appeals for licence suspension. Legal protection applies only to disputes involving the insured vehicle and only where Greek courts have jurisdiction. Coverage is provided up to the limit stated in the policy coverage table.
Green Card (international insurance certificate)
Optional
For travel in non-EEA third countries, the insured vehicle must carry an international insurance certificate (Green Card). This certificate is issued upon prior written request by the policyholder and/or the insured and payment of additional premium. It operates in accordance with Part II of the Consolidated Agreement.
Roadside assistance
Optional
Optional roadside assistance coverage provided through INTERAMERICAN Assistance, covering all of Greece and continental Europe (excluding Albania). Covers private passenger cars, taxis, light vans up to 3.5 t, motorcycles, trikes and quads. Services include on-site repair, towing to local garage, internal vehicle repatriation (for breakdowns over 60 km from home when repair takes over 2 days), hotel costs (max €75), return transport (max €100), lost key assistance, and fuel delivery. For abroad: vehicle repatriation if repair takes over 5 days, return ticket for repaired vehicle collection, and up to €300 towards passenger return costs.
Driver road accident cover (personal accident)
Optional
Optional personal accident coverage for the driver of the insured vehicle (excluding motorcycles, mopeds, trikes, and quads). Covers death and permanent total disability resulting exclusively and directly from a road accident during driving. The insured sum is the maximum for the combination of benefits, and cannot exceed the death benefit amount. Excludes suicide, intoxication, epilepsy, paralysis, force majeure events, war, terrorism, racing, and driving without a valid licence. The driver must wear a seatbelt; proof of this obligation rests with the claimant. Insured amount at policy level stated on the coverage table (market data indicates typically €5,000 per package).
Passenger personal accident cover
Excluded
Dedicated passenger personal accident coverage is not offered as a distinct optional cover in Interlife's MTPL product range. Passengers of the insured vehicle are covered as third parties under the mandatory bodily injury liability coverage. The driver accident cover under Article 19 of the T&Cs covers only the driver and does not extend to passengers.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Mandatory MTPL coverage applies within: (1) Greek territory; (2) EU member states; (3) EEA countries; (4) other countries whose National Green Card bureaux are bound to apply Part III of the Consolidated Agreement. Travel in non-EEA third countries requires a Green Card issued on written request and payment of additional premium. For optional coverages (own-damage), territorial scope is limited to Greek territory only (Article 14 of the General Terms on Optional Coverages).
Green card rules
For travel in countries outside the EEA that are not signatories to Part III of the Consolidated Agreement, the insured vehicle must carry a Green Card (international insurance certificate). This is issued by INTERLIFE upon prior written request from the policyholder and/or the insured, together with payment of additional premiums. The Green Card operates under Part II of the Consolidated Agreement and is valid only for the countries listed on the card.
Driver restrictions
The insured vehicle must be driven by a holder of a valid driving licence for the vehicle category. Additional premiums (surcharges) apply and must be declared to INTERLIFE if the vehicle is driven by: (a) a driver under 23 years or over 75 years of age (surcharge: 60% for amateur licence, 30% for professional licence); (b) a driver who obtained their licence for the first time within the 12 months preceding the accident (surcharge: 60%). For optional own-damage coverage (Article 6), the age threshold is 25/75 years and the company is fully released from liability without a surcharge option. Failure to declare and pay the applicable surcharge results in forfeiture of all indemnification rights.
Claim notification deadline
In the event of an accident, the insured must: (1) notify INTERLIFE in writing within 8 days of the accident, providing all requested information; (2) submit in photocopy within 8 days any judicial or extrajudicial document received in connection with the accident; (3) make the vehicle immediately available for inspection and not repair it unless 5 working days have elapsed from written notification to INTERLIFE; (4) not recognise liability explicitly without INTERLIFE's written consent; (5) not settle any third-party claim without INTERLIFE's written consent. Culpable breach of these obligations entitles INTERLIFE to seek recovery for any resulting loss.
Bonus-malus rules
In the event of a claim with fault of the insured, the Bonus-Malus (BM) rating does not increase if the 'Bonus-Malus protection' optional cover has been included in the policy. Without this cover, standard Greek MTPL Bonus-Malus rules apply as defined by INTERLIFE's tariff. The optional own-damage Article 12 (General Terms on Optional Coverages) explicitly states that BM is protected (not increased) following a claim when this cover is activated.
