Payment will not exceed current market value at the time of loss.
Total Loss – Write-Off Settlement
Covered
Where the car is beyond economic repair, Aviva pays the lower of the current market value for a car of the same make and model or the sum insured placed on the car as shown in the schedule. Payment will never exceed current market value even if the sum insured is higher. A courtesy car is provided for up to 10 days when using Aviva Motor Services.
Partial Loss – Repair of Damaged Car

Covered
Covers loss of or damage to the insured car caused directly by theft or attempted theft (also fire, self-ignition, lightning, explosion). No limit applies when using Aviva's aligned windscreen repairers; a limit of €225 per single event applies if a non-aligned repairer is used. No excess is charged and no-claims discount is not affected. Included as standard with Comprehensive policies; available as an optional paid add-on with Third Party, Fire and Theft.
Natural Perils (Storm, Flood, Hail)
Conditional
The policy does not explicitly list storm, flood, or hail as separately named insured perils under Section 1. Earthquake and sonic boom damage are expressly excluded under General Exceptions.
Malicious Damage / Vandalism
Covered
Malicious damage is covered as a breakdown rescue trigger event (Section 6). Under Comprehensive cover (Section 1), loss or damage arising from an accidental, sudden or unforeseen cause is covered, which includes malicious damage to the car. Breakdown rescue section explicitly lists malicious damage as a covered breakdown trigger.

If Aviva elects to pay a cash settlement, the amount will not exceed the cost stated by Aviva's repair service to repair or replace the car. If the policyholder chooses not to use an aligned repairer, an additional excess of €1,000 applies per event (endorsement PC76). Courtesy car is only provided when using Aviva Motor Services.

You must also immediately notify Aviva of any prosecution or inquest in connection with an event. You must not admit, deny, negotiate or settle any claim without Aviva's prior written permission.

An additional policy excess of €2,500 applies (endorsement PC99) where any driver covered under the policy has received penalty points that have not been disclosed to Aviva. If a non-aligned repairer is used for claims under Section 1, an additional excess of €1,000 per event applies.
