Direct payment

If a Person Insured is admitted to hospital abroad, Chubb Assistance will contact the hospital or attending doctor and guarantee payment of fees up to the policy limit so the Person Insured does not have to pay from their own funds.

Geographic scope

Policyholder selects one of three geographical areas at purchase: Europe (including Russia west of the Urals, Turkey, Morocco and Tunisia); Worldwide excluding USA, Canada and the Caribbean; or Worldwide including USA, Canada and the Caribbean but excluding Cuba.

Cover applies to Holidays that both begin and end in Ireland; travel within Ireland is only covered if it includes at least 2 nights of pre-booked accommodation. Cuba is excluded from all geographical areas.

Unique selling points

  • Emergency medical expenses and repatriation are covered up to €5,000,000 per person, among the highest limits in the Irish travel insurance market.
  • Chubb Assistance guarantees direct payment of overseas hospital and doctor bills up to the policy limit, so customers do not have to pay upfront from their own funds.
  • Customers with existing private medical insurance can select the Healthcover Plus option, which tops up PMI cover to €5,000,000 for medical expenses abroad while reducing the travel insurance premium.
  • Policies can be quoted and purchased entirely online in minutes via ie.chubbinsured.com.
  • A 24/7 Chubb Assistance emergency medical, referral and repatriation service is available by phone while customers are travelling abroad.
