Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

Prior consent from the insurer must be obtained before incurring any expenses over €500, curtailing or extending a trip due to bodily injury or illness; if physically prevented from contacting the insurer immediately, contact must be made within 48 hours.

Unauthorized treatment

Failure to obtain prior consent for expenses over €500, or to comply with a repatriation decision by the Senior Medical Officer, may result in the insurer withdrawing further cover for that claim.

Purchase while abroad

Any trip that had already begun before the insurance was purchased is not covered, except where an existing Annual Multi-Trip policy is renewed while the trip is already underway.

Chronic conditions

A Pre-Existing Medical Condition includes any cardiac, cardiovascular, hypertensive or cerebrovascular illness, disease, condition or symptom the insured was aware of prior to the start of cover, unless declared and accepted in writing by the insurer.

Pregnancy

Cancellation cover applies if the policyholder becomes pregnant after purchase and will be more than 32 weeks pregnant (24 weeks for a multiple pregnancy) during the trip, or is advised not to travel due to Complications of Pregnancy or Childbirth; ordinary pregnancy/childbirth claims are otherwise excluded.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

No claim arising directly or indirectly from a Pre-Existing Medical Condition is covered unless it has been declared to and accepted in writing by the insurer for the current period of insurance and, for Annual Multi-Trip policies, before each trip.

Coverage duration limit

Single Trip cover: up to 365 days if aged 65 or under, maximum 31 days if aged 66 or over. Annual Multi-Trip cover: maximum 31 days per trip (Bronze), 45 days (Gold), 60 days (Platinum), or 31 days if aged 66+ on Platinum, up to a total of 183 days per year.
