Compensa
Compensa is a motor casco insurance for the LV market with online purchase and 24/7 assistance.
Direct payment
Compensa pays the repair shop directly when a repair service is selected; if no agreement on the repair shop is reached, compensation is paid to the policyholder's account without VAT. For total loss or theft, compensation is paid to the policyholder's designated account after deducting the deductible and any outstanding premium instalments.

Coverage limits
Own damage (collision and sudden/unforeseen damage)
Covered
Insurance covers any sudden and unforeseen damage to the insured vehicle caused by: road traffic accidents (collision with another vehicle, obstacle, pedestrian, animal, bird, or other object; overturning, falling, sinking or breaking through ice), falling objects or substances, animals or birds (including rodents), fire or short circuit (including smoke, soot, and fire-fighting damage), explosion, natural perils (storm, hail, flood, landslide, earthquake, heavy rain, heavy snowfall, lightning), or intentional third-party acts. Compensation is based on repair or replacement costs to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition, up to the insured sum or market value.
Total loss (constructive total loss)
Covered
Total loss is declared when the vehicle cannot be repaired or when repair costs exceed 70% of the market value on the day of the accident, or exceed the difference between pre-accident market value and salvage value. Compensation equals the market value (or insured sum if lower). The deductible for total loss and any unpaid premium instalments are deducted from the compensation. If the policyholder surrenders the wreck, compensation is not reduced by salvage value; if they retain the wreck, compensation is reduced by the insurer-determined salvage value.
Partial loss (repair of damage)
Covered
If the vehicle is partially damaged, compensation covers the repair or replacement costs to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition. The applicable deductible for damages is deducted. If the manufacturer's warranty has expired, used or non-original new parts may be used. Insurer pays the repair shop directly, or pays the policyholder's account (without VAT) if no agreement on repair venue is reached. For repeated damage to the same part previously compensated in cash without repair proof, compensation is withheld.
Theft and robbery (vehicle)
Conditional
Coverage for theft and robbery is included only if explicitly noted in the insurance policy. Covered events: open or covert carjacking or its attempt; robbery involving violence or threat of violence; damages incurred while the vehicle was stolen or carjacked; damages until the vehicle is returned to law enforcement or the user if recovered. Compensation equals market value (or insured sum if lower), less deductible for theft and any unpaid premium. A document transferring ownership to the insurer must be signed before payout. If keys, control devices or registration certificate were given to the person who stole the vehicle, no compensation is paid. If keys/documents cannot be presented after theft, compensation is reduced by up to 50% (exception: break-in with obvious signs in a closed space).
Glass damage (windscreen, side and rear windows)
Covered
Glazing (windscreen, side windows, rear window) damage is covered as part of the standard policy. The glazing deductible (as noted in the policy) applies only when glass is replaced at an insurer-designated post-warranty service centre. If glass is replaced at another service, the standard damage deductible applies but not less than EUR 160 per claim. No deductible applies if the glazing is repaired (not replaced) at the insurer-designated post-warranty service centre.
Natural perils (storm, hail, flood, landslide, earthquake, heavy rain, heavy snowfall, lightning)
Covered
Damage caused by natural perils is fully covered as part of the base CASCO coverage. Covered perils include storm, hail, floods, landslides, earthquakes, heavy rainfall, heavy snowfall, and lightning strikes. Compensation is based on repair costs up to the insured sum or market value, less the deductible for damages.
Vandalism (intentional third-party damage)
Covered
Damage caused by intentional acts of third parties that damage or destroy the vehicle is covered under the base policy (except for events classified as theft or robbery). Compensation is based on repair or replacement costs up to the insured sum or market value, less the deductible for damages.
Roadside assistance
Optional
Roadside assistance is an optional add-on that must be explicitly marked in the insurance policy. If included, the insurer organises and covers: phone consultation, on-site roadside assistance (fault diagnosis, engine start, spare tyre change, fuel delivery or EV towing to nearest charging station, anti-theft device problems, automatic gearbox unblocking, minor repairs), vehicle evacuation (towing to repair shop or guarded parking), driver and passenger transport from incident scene (up to EUR 70), and a replacement vehicle (up to compact class, up to 3 days if repair cannot be completed within 1 working day). The maximum compensation limit per single towing/evacuation event is EUR 700. The total limit for all roadside assistance services per single insured event is EUR 700. The service operates 24/7 throughout the policy territory. If roadside assistance is not included but the CASCO policy covers damages/theft/break-in, the insurer reimburses reasonable documented towing expenses (up to EUR 700 within Latvia; up to EUR 700 for vehicles up to 3 500 kg outside Latvia; up to EUR 3 000 for vehicles over 3 500 kg outside Latvia) without a deductible.
Replacement vehicle
Optional
Replacement vehicle is an optional add-on that must be explicitly marked in the insurance policy. If included, the insurer provides a rental car or reimburses reasonable documented expenses for rental or other mobility tools for a limited time agreed in advance. The rental car is provided without a deductible when: the vehicle cannot be used after an insured event; the vehicle is under repair due to an insured event; the vehicle was stolen or carjacked. The maximum daily rental cost and the number of rental days are specified in the policy. The maximum rental duration for reimbursement of policyholder-paid rentals is 20 days. Payment stops from the next day if: the vehicle is repaired; the vehicle can be used again; or the compensation is paid out.
Driver and passenger accident insurance
Optional
Driver and passenger accident insurance is an optional add-on governed by rules VPNGA26. If included in the policy, it covers the vehicle driver and all passengers present at the time of the road traffic accident. Covered risks: bone fractures and injuries (per trauma table, percentage of insured sum); permanent disability/mutilation (25%–100% of insured sum depending on disability group I–III); death within 12 months of the accident (100% of insured sum applicable to death risk, proportional to number of occupants). No compensation for pathological fractures, stress fractures, pre-existing joint diseases, intentional self-harm, intoxication, or events outside road traffic accidents. The insured sum per occupant is the total insured sum divided proportionally by the number of occupants (max = manufacturer's seat count).
Key conditions
driver_age_experience_limit
If the vehicle is driven by a person whose age or driving experience does not match the parameters specified in the policy, the compensation is reduced by 20%, but not less than EUR 160. This reduction does not apply if the accident was caused entirely by an identified third party whose liability is insured under OCTA and the accident occurred in Latvia, or if there is no direct causal link between the accident and the driver's age or experience (e.g., a stone hit the windscreen).
repair_network_requirements
The policyholder and insurer select the repair shop jointly in accordance with policy conditions. The insurer pays the repair shop directly. Authorised dealer repair is covered only if this option is marked in the policy. If the policyholder chooses a different service centre not agreed with the insurer, reasonable and justified repair costs are reimbursed. If no agreement on a repair shop is reached, compensation is calculated per the insurer-approved estimate or the LTAB technical expert methodology and paid to the policyholder's account without VAT. Used or non-original parts may be used once the factory warranty has expired. Self-service car washes are not considered specialist service providers.
territorial_scope
The insurance contract is valid only in the territory specified in the insurance policy. Available territories: Latvia only; Baltic states (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania); Europe (Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania + 30+ European countries); Europe + CIS (Europe + Belarus, European part of Russia up to 55° E longitude, Moldova, Ukraine). Outside the specified territory the insurance is not valid. The territory can be expanded by separate agreement with the insurer.
anti_theft_requirements
When the vehicle is parked, all security systems specified in the insurance policy must be activated, doors and windows must be locked/closed, the boot must be closed, and any removable/foldable roof must be secured. If required security systems were not installed, not operational, not activated, or subscription fee was not paid; installer requirements were not met; the vehicle was unlocked, had open windows, hatches or removable/raised roof; or the vehicle was running – theft/robbery compensation will not be paid. No compensation if key duplicates were made during the policy period without the insurer's written consent, or if keys/control devices do not match the vehicle on inspection. Theft occurring in Belarus, Russia, or Ukraine: the policy's theft deductible applies, but not less than 20%.
claim_notification_deadline
The policyholder must notify the competent authority immediately (without leaving the accident scene) and submit a written claim to the insurer no later than within 3 business days. Notification can be submitted: in person; on the insurer's website; by phone or email; via the insurer's portal portals.compensa.lv. If the required police/authority notification was not made but the 3-business-day rule is met, compensation up to EUR 10,000 per policy period may still be paid. If immediate photo/video documentation of the scene, vehicle and consequences is provided and submitted, the EUR 10,000 limit does not apply. No compensation if the fact of leaving the accident scene is registered by police.
deductible_rules
The deductible is deducted from every compensation payment unless otherwise specified in the contract. Different deductibles apply per risk type: deductible for damages (partial loss), deductible for total loss, deductible for theft/robbery, deductible for glazing. The glazing deductible applies only if the glass is replaced at the insurer-designated post-warranty service; if replaced elsewhere, the standard damage deductible applies (min EUR 160 per event). No deductible applies if glazing is repaired (not replaced) at the insurer-designated service. If the policy specifies a damage deductible below EUR 160, the second and subsequent claims during the same policy period are subject to a EUR 160 deductible. No deductible applies for post-accident transportation costs, personal belongings, sports equipment, key replacement, incorrect fuel fill, registration document/plate renewal, or zero-deductible collision with vehicle/animal (if this optional add-on is included and conditions are met).
