Legal defence
No limit stated
No dedicated legal defence/legal expenses cover is mentioned in the reviewed IPID or terms and conditions for this product.
Green Card
No limit stated
The reviewed OCTA Standard Contract IPID does not describe a Green Card benefit; the territorial scope already includes several non-EEA Green Card countries (Switzerland, Serbia, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, UK). A separate 'Green Card' contract type exists in the Latvian OCTA market for travel outside this territory but is not confirmed as part of this specific product.
24/7 Roadside Assistance
Optional
Only in Diennakts autopalīdzība
Optional add-on providing round-the-clock roadside assistance (vehicle start-up, tyre pressure/spare wheel fitting, towing/extraction) across 40 listed European countries; fuel delivery reimbursed up to 10 litres per insurance period, parking costs reimbursed up to 5 days, plus taxi, hotel or onward-travel costs if the vehicle is towed and cannot continue in traffic. Services are provided up to the limit stated in the policy.
Driver accident insurance
100% of insured sum
Only in Sauszemes transportlīdzekļu vadītāju un pasažieru nelaimes gadījumu apdrošināšana
Optional add-on covering the driver for injury/trauma (per a scaled schedule), medical expenses within 2 years, disability (up to 100% of the sum insured for Group I disability) and death (100% of the sum insured), based on the sum insured set in the policy per seat.
Passenger accident insurance
100% of insured sum
Only in Sauszemes transportlīdzekļu vadītāju un pasažieru nelaimes gadījumu apdrošināšana
Optional add-on covering passengers present in the vehicle at the time of the accident for injury/trauma, medical expenses, disability (up to 100% of the sum insured for Group I disability) and death (100% of the sum insured); the total sum insured equals the number of registered seats multiplied by the per-person sum insured.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
The OCTA Standard Contract is valid in EEA countries plus Switzerland, Serbia, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the UK; if an accident occurs outside Latvia, the applicable coverage amounts and limitations are governed by the laws of that country.
Green card rules
For travel to Green Card system countries not already included in the standard territorial scope, a separate Green Card document/contract is required in the Latvian OCTA market; this is not described as included in the reviewed OCTA Standard Contract documents.
Driver restrictions
The policy is issued for a specific vehicle rather than a named driver; the 'Indemnity from Balcia' add-on additionally requires that the driver of the insured vehicle is not at fault for the accident.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must notify the insurer of the accident and submit a completed Statement of Accident form (if applicable) no later than 10 days from the date of the road traffic accident.
Bonus-malus rules
Since 1 August 2024, the previous Bonus-Malus class system for OCTA pricing was replaced by a simplified model based on insurance history days and accident counts recorded since 1 May 2004, updated more frequently than the former annual class recalculation.
