Regulatory updates
Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe SE (LMIE) is authorised and regulated by the Luxembourg Minister of Finance and the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA). LMIE was licensed by the CAA in early 2019, following the announcement in December 2017 to redomicile its European insurance operations from the UK to Luxembourg in response to Brexit. The company officially opened its Luxembourg European headquarters on 8 October 2019. LMIE (RCS number B232280) and its coverholder entities Liberty Specialty Markets Europe S.à r.l. (B216199) and Liberty Specialty Markets Europe Two S.à r.l. (B236925) are all supervised by the Commissariat aux Assurances and licensed by the Luxembourg Minister of Finance as insurance and reinsurance agencies. As of August 2024, a former regulated Spanish holding entity (LIEH) was deregistered and LMIE continues to be regulated on a solo basis by the CAA. LMIE is additionally supervised by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) for its Swiss Branch. LMIE submitted its 2024 Solvency and Financial Condition Report (SFCR) to the CAA in April 2025 as part of Solvency II year-end reporting requirements.
