Key conditions

Territorial scope

Coverage applies to events in Poland and other European countries or their European parts, excluding Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova (OWU pt. 5). For Green Card, events in countries party to the Green Card system are covered (OWU pt. 6). For Moto Szyby (windscreen), repair is organised exclusively in Poland (OWU pt. 84).

Green card rules

Green Card (Zielona Karta) is an optional separate contract that can only be taken out if an existing Moto OC policy is in force on the same vehicle (OWU pt. 169). It covers civil liability for damage to third parties caused by the vehicle outside Poland, in countries listed in the Green Card certificate. The guarantee sum is at least equal to the Polish mandatory OC minimum sums. Coverage begins upon crossing the Polish border. The policy can be concluded for a minimum of 15 days and maximum of 12 months. The physical Green Card document must be carried and shown to control authorities on demand (OWU pt. 176).

Driver restrictions

The Ubezpieczający (policyholder) must be an adult natural person who cannot conclude the contract in connection with conducted business activity (OWU glossary). The vehicle must be owned by natural persons for the Moto AC component (OWU pt. 4a iii). Driving under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or psychotropic substances is a general exclusion unless it had no influence on the event (OWU pt. 191d). Driving without a valid licence or after licence suspension is excluded (OWU pt. 191i).

Claim notification deadline

Accidents (damage/collision): notify the insurer as soon as possible, no later than 7 business days from the occurrence (OWU pt. 49e). Vehicle theft: notify police within 2 days of discovering the theft and the insurer within 2 days of learning about it (OWU pt. 51a–b). NNW accidents: notify within 7 days unless health condition prevents it (OWU pt. 115). Assistance alarm centre must be notified immediately for assistance services (OWU pt. 141).

Bonus-malus rules

Standard bonus-malus rules apply as per Polish mandatory insurance regulations. Optional additional clauses available: 'Brak zwyżki za jedną szkodę z Moto OC ppm' – for an additional premium, guarantees that one claim during the policy period will not result in a premium increase at renewal (increase limited to CPI inflation index published by GUS) (OWU pt. 60–63). 'Brak zwyżki za jedną szkodę w Moto AC' – same protection for the AC component (OWU pt. 64–67).
