Coverage limits
Legal defence
Not offered
Legal defence is not provided as a standalone coverage under the MTPL policy. The IPID and OC information document do not mention it as a covered benefit. Legal costs related to claims settled under the optional Zielona Karta product are handled separately.
Green Card certificate
Covered
LINK4 issues a Green Card (International Insurance Certificate) confirming MTPL coverage validity for travel to countries requiring it, including Morocco, Azerbaijan, Iran, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Moldova. The MTPL cover extends to EU/EEA states, Andorra and Serbia without the certificate. An additional paid standalone 'Zielona Karta' insurance product exists for extended territorial cover beyond OC ppm scope.
Roadside assistance (Program Pomocy z Samochodem Zastępczym i Assistance Opony)
Covered
Included with every LINK4 OC package at no additional cost. Covers: on-site vehicle repair up to 400 PLN, towing up to 100 km after an accident, replacement vehicle for up to 3 calendar days after accident or theft, tyre assistance (on-site wheel change or towing to vulcanisation workshop, limit 2,000 PLN per policy period), battery jump-start (up to 2 events per policy period), and information services. Valid in Poland only. Motorcycles and mopeds covered only on paved public roads.
Driver personal accident benefit
Excluded
The at-fault driver's own bodily injuries are not covered by MTPL. MTPL covers only third-party bodily injury liability. Personal accident cover for the driver is available as a separate optional NNW (accident insurance) add-on product.
Passenger bodily injury (via third-party liability)
Covered
Passengers injured in an accident caused by the insured vehicle are treated as third parties and their bodily injuries are covered under the bodily injury liability limit. There is no separate standalone passenger accident benefit; coverage is part of the statutory MTPL third-party bodily injury protection.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
Coverage applies in Poland, all EU member states, EEA countries (EFTA), Andorra, and Serbia. For events in those states, if the local guarantee sum is lower than the Polish sum, the Polish sum applies. Travel to countries requiring a Green Card (Morocco, Azerbaijan, Iran, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, North Macedonia, Moldova) requires a Green Card certificate.
Green card rules
LINK4 issues the International Insurance Certificate (Green Card) upon request, confirming MTPL validity in Green Card system countries. The driver must present the Green Card on demand from control authorities in countries where it is required. A duplicate may be issued upon written request and payment of a handling fee.
Driver restrictions
LINK4 and the Motor Insurers' Guarantee Fund (UFG) may seek recourse from the driver who caused the accident if the driver: caused the damage intentionally or while intoxicated; obtained the vehicle through a crime; did not hold the required driving licence (with exceptions for life-saving or pursuit); fled the scene of the accident.
Claim notification deadline
The insured must notify LINK4 of a claim as soon as possible, no later than within 7 days of learning of the damage. At the scene, the insured must ensure safety, mitigate damages, provide medical assistance to victims, protect victims' property, and notify police where required. Transfer of vehicle ownership must be reported in writing within 14 days.
Bonus-malus rules
LINK4 applies an individual bonus-malus system based on the insured's claims history (last 4 years considered). No statutory fixed table applies; premiums are calculated by actuarial algorithms. An optional 'Ochrona Zniżki' (no-claims protection) clause can be added: for an additional premium, the first at-fault OC claim and/or the first AC claim in the policy period will not trigger a malus surcharge at renewal.
