Key conditions

Territorial scope

OC coverage applies to events occurring in Poland and in all EU member states, as well as in non-EU countries whose national bureaux are signatories to the Multilateral Agreement (currently: Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, United Kingdom). For travel to Albania, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Montenegro, Iran, Israel, Morocco, Moldova, North Macedonia, Russia, Tunisia, Turkey and Ukraine, a separate Green Card document is required.

Green card rules

The Green Card is issued free of charge upon request of the policyholder who has concluded an OC policy with Zavarovalnica Triglav d.d. The request must be submitted at least 14 days before the planned travel date. The Green Card confirms civil liability coverage in Green Card system countries outside Poland. Withdrawal from the Green Card contract requires return of the complete original certificate.

Driver restrictions

The insurer has the right to seek recourse from the driver who caused damage if the driver: caused damage intentionally, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs; came into possession of the vehicle by committing a crime; did not hold the required driving licence (except when acting to save human life or property, or in pursuit of a criminal); fled the scene of the accident.

Claim notification deadline

In the event of an incident covered by compulsory OC insurance, the insured person must immediately notify the insurer. For the Green Card product, notification must occur within 14 days of a claim being filed against the vehicle owner or driver. The insurer must be notified immediately if criminal or administrative proceedings are initiated against the vehicle owner or driver.

Bonus-malus rules

The OWU does not specify explicit bonus-malus grade tables; premium is set based on individual risk assessment criteria including vehicle type, vehicle technical parameters, policyholder's previous insurance and claims history, age of the insured, and number of seats in the vehicle.
