Coverage limits
Bodily injury and health damage liability
Covered
Covers death, bodily injury, or health disorder resulting from vehicle movement. The guaranteed sum may not be lower than PLN 29,876,400 per event regardless of the number of victims. For damages caused in countries whose national bureaux are signatories to the Multilateral Agreement, TUW TUW is liable up to the guaranteed sum specified by the laws of that country, but not less than the sum stated above. Note: prior IPID version IP-33.002 (valid until 15.10.2024) expressed limits as EUR 5,210,000 per victim; the current IP-33.004 (from 16.10.2024) converted to PLN under the amended mandatory insurance act.
Property damage liability
Covered
Covers loss, destruction, or damage to property caused by vehicle movement, including during boarding/alighting, loading/unloading, and while stopped, parked or garaged. The guaranteed sum may not be lower than PLN 6,021,600 per event regardless of the number of victims. Note: prior IPID version IP-33.002 (valid until 15.10.2024) expressed the limit as EUR 1,050,000 per event.
Legal defence costs
Not offered
Legal defence costs are not listed as a coverage item in the TUW TUW MTPL IPID (IP-33.004). The older Green Card OWU (WU-17.06) references reimbursement of necessary defence costs within the guaranteed sum but this relates to the Green Card product, not the standard MTPL.
Green Card (motor third-party liability for travel abroad)
Optional
The Green Card is a separate, optionally purchasable product at TUW TUW (IPID IP-17.07.01, effective 17.04.2025). It provides third-party liability coverage for vehicle travel outside Poland in countries belonging to the Green Card system that are not signatories to the Multilateral Agreement. Standard MTPL (IP-33.004) already covers the listed Multilateral Agreement countries; the Green Card extends coverage to the remaining Green Card system countries as specified in the insurance certificate.
Roadside assistance (AutoAssistance Standard – included free with OC)
Covered
TUW TUW includes AutoAssistance Standard free of charge with every MTPL (OC) policy. The Standard variant covers informational assistance, on-site vehicle repair attempt (up to PLN 400 in Poland / EUR 200 abroad), towing to a workshop up to 50 km, and a replacement vehicle for up to 3 days. Coverage applies in Poland. Premium and Superior variants with broader European scope are available for an additional premium.
Driver personal accident (NNW)
Optional
Driver personal accident (NNW) is a separate, optional product at TUW TUW, not included in the standard MTPL policy. It pays a benefit in the event of bodily injury or death of the driver due to a traffic accident. Coverage applies in Poland and throughout Europe.
Passenger personal accident (NNW)
Optional
Passenger personal accident (NNW) is a separate, optional product at TUW TUW, not included in the standard MTPL policy. It can be purchased together with the driver NNW policy.
Key conditions
Territorial scope
The MTPL policy covers events occurring on the territory of Poland and in countries whose national bureaux are signatories to the Multilateral Agreement, including all EU member states, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Serbia, Croatia, and numerous other European territories (Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Channel Islands, Gibraltar, Isle of Man, Faroe Islands). For Green Card countries not covered by the Multilateral Agreement, a separate Green Card (Zielona Karta) product must be purchased.
Green card rules
The Green Card (Zielona Karta) is a separate optional product (IPID IP-17.07.01, effective 17.04.2025) sold by TUW TUW. It extends MTPL coverage to Green Card system countries not covered by the Multilateral Agreement. The certificate of international motor insurance (Green Card) must be presented on request of authorities in the relevant country.
Driver restrictions
TUW TUW has the right to seek reimbursement from the driver who: caused damage intentionally or under the influence of alcohol, drugs or psychotropic substances; obtained possession of the vehicle through a crime; did not hold the required driving licence (except to save life/property or during a direct chase after a criminal); or fled the scene of the accident.
Claim notification deadline
The insured must immediately notify TUW TUW of the event, provide necessary explanations, and cooperate in determining the circumstances and extent of the damage. Compensation is paid within 30 days of notification; if circumstances require clarification, the undisputed part is paid within 30 days and the remainder within 14 days of when clarification became possible.
Bonus-malus rules
TUW TUW applies its own internal bonus-malus system rewarding claim-free driving history with premium discounts and increasing premiums after claims. Specific tables are not published in the IPID. Claim history is verified via the UFG (Insurance Guarantee Fund) database using the insured's PESEL/REGON number. Insurers also reward loyalty (continued coverage) and membership seniority in the mutual.
