Unique selling points
  • No deductible applied to glass, fire, theft/robbery or natural phenomena coverages in any module — a differentiator not universally offered by competitors.
  • New vehicles within 3 months of first registration receive full new replacement value (without depreciation) for the first 2 policy years in the event of total loss.
  • Nationwide partner workshop network offering reduced deductibles, vehicle collection/delivery within 35 km, and a courtesy vehicle during repairs — all in one service package.
  • 24/7 travel assistance (freephone 800 201 833) included in all modules, covering Portugal and the full European Carta Verde territory, with real-time tow tracking via the Allianz app.
  • Fully digital claims journey: report accidents via the e-SEGURNET app or eCliente portal, with glass-only network repairs requiring no claims form at all.
  • The first own-damage insurance specifically designed for used cars aged 4 to 20 years, offering comprehensive casco coverage at an accessible price compared to standard full-coverage policies.
  • Insured capital set at 70% of the vehicle's current market value — automatically updated each year using official market quotation tables — so the premium matches the car's real worth.
  • Exclusive Autoestima workshop network certified by Centro Zaragoza with national coverage, offering 2-year repair guarantee, courtesy vehicle, and vehicle cleaning and fluid checks included at no extra cost following an accident.
  • Total loss assistance service that proactively helps the policyholder find a similar replacement vehicle when the insured car is declared a total loss, with no deductible and no salvage deduction when the salvage value is ≤ 30% of the vehicle's market value.
  • Proteção Vital do Condutor included as standard at 500,000 EUR — covering a broad set of damages including biological harm, lifetime care costs and workplace adaptation — at a level typically only found in higher-tier motor policies.
  • Replacement value guarantee for the first 3 years: in the event of total loss, Zurich pays the full replacement-in-new value of the vehicle rather than the depreciated market value, available across multiple own damage peril coverages.
  • Comprehensive travel assistance with five tiers (Base, Complete, Master, Collection, Rental) covering vehicle repatriation, medical repatriation, psychological support after serious accidents and specialist vehicle search for stolen vehicles across Europe.
  • Courtesy benefits included as optional add-ons: zero-deposit rent-a-car, taxi service after vehicle pick-up from repair, urgent replacement vehicle delivered within 2 hours, two complimentary car washes per year, and loan vehicle during scheduled maintenance.
  • Four glass damage tiers (Base, Generic, Brand, Collection) with no deductible on repair and brand-manufacturer glass available, including coverage for panoramic windscreens and panoramic sunroofs up to once per year.
  • Flexible modular structure allowing policyholders to combine mandatory liability (MTPL at €7,750,000) with a wide menu of optional own damage coverages – from basic theft-only to full comprehensive – tailored for both light passenger cars and light commercial vehicles up to 3,500kg.

Key conditions
Driver age experience limit
No explicit minimum driver age or experience requirement is stated in the publicly available policy documents. However, driving under the influence of alcohol above the legal limit, without a valid driving licence, or due to dementia are explicitly excluded events that void coverage. No specific driver age or experience minimum is stated for the Autoestima plan in the verified sources. The policy does, however, exclude damage caused when the driver does not hold a valid driving licence corresponding to the category of the insured vehicle, or is temporarily or permanently disqualified or deprived of the right to drive. For the 'Autoproteção' coverage (Condição Especial 005), the vehicle must be driven by a person legally licensed to drive for more than 5 years. This requirement may be waived if the Accompanied Driving by Tutor special condition (001) is subscribed and all legal requirements for that scheme are met, and the tutor holds a valid licence for more than 5 years. No general minimum age requirement is stated for standard own damage coverages, but premium calculation factors include driver age and licence.
Repair network requirements
Allianz operates a nationwide partner workshop network. Use of the network is recommended for own damage claims and provides a reduced deductible compared to using an outside workshop. The network also provides vehicle pick-up and drop-off within a 35 km radius. For glass repairs, the Allianz authorised glass network must be used to benefit from the glass coverage (no claims form required for glass-only repairs in network). All repairs for own damage claims must be carried out exclusively at the Autoestima network of workshops selected by Fidelidade. The insurer reserves the right to indicate the workshop for the survey and repair. Repairs may use second-hand or IAM (Independent Aftermarket Manufactured) parts where these guarantee correct vehicle operation. Repairs include the legal warranty. Autoestima workshops are part of the Fidelidade conventional workshop network, have national representation on the mainland and islands, and are exclusively composed of workshops certified by Centro Zaragoza.Glass breakage coverages require that repairs or replacements be carried out by a specialised company supplying and fitting glass meeting specifications and standards that ensure the same quality as glass supplied by the manufacturer of the insured vehicle brand. Under the 'Marca' and 'Coleção' glass tiers, works must be carried out by a specialised company or a franchised dealer for the vehicle brand. For own damage repairs, Zurich may repair, replace or pay cash indemnification. Where Zurich indicates an alternative workshop, it bears the towing costs for the transfer.
Territorial scope
Mandatory liability (RC) coverage applies in countries indicated on the International Insurance Certificate (Green Card / Carta Verde). Travel assistance covers Portugal and other European countries. Other optional coverages (own damage, theft, glass, etc.) apply as per the Green Card territory indicated in the policy.Vehicle damage guarantees for light passenger vehicles, SUVs, minivans, light mixed vehicles, motorhomes, pick-ups and quadricycles: G3 (EU + Andorra, Gibraltar, Iceland, Norway, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Serbia). Replacement vehicle: same territorial scope as the vehicle damage guarantees for the Autoestima plan. Other categories (e.g. agricultural quadricycles): G1 (Portugal only). Compulsory civil liability: G3 and additional countries under the Green Card system.Own damage coverages (collision, fire, theft, glass breakage, natural perils, vandalism, strikes): generally limited to Portugal Continental and the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores, unless otherwise agreed in Special or Particular Conditions. For light passenger vehicles, coverages such as collision, theft, fire, glass breakage and natural perils extend to EU member states, EEA countries and other countries party to the Green Card Agreement. Commercial vehicles (non-light): limited to Portugal for some coverages. Replacement vehicle: valid in Portugal Continental and Autonomous Regions.
Anti theft requirements
No specific anti-theft device requirement is stated in the publicly available policy documents for the standard personal vehicle product. Coverage for theft and robbery is subject to the general conditions and the insured capital as per Autovista Eurotax Portugal or APS tables. No specific anti-theft device requirements are stated in the verified policy documents for the Autoestima plan. However, to activate the theft or robbery guarantee, the policyholder must immediately report the occurrence to the competent authorities and take all available steps to locate the vehicle and its perpetrators. The right to indemnification in case of vehicle disappearance only arises after 60 days from the date of police report, if the vehicle has not been recovered. Exclusion applies if the vehicle was abandoned open and/or with the key inside in a public space. No explicit anti-theft device installation requirement is stated in the policy conditions. However, theft or robbery coverage excludes losses resulting from the deliberate abandonment of the insured vehicle, left open and/or with the key inside, in a public space. The vehicle must not be temporarily abandoned open or with keys inside in a public space.
Claim notification deadline
The insured must report claims to Allianz within a maximum of 8 days from the date of the occurrence or the date of knowledge of the accident (per NIP Auto and DAAA submission requirement). The DISPS (IPID) states a maximum of 15 days. Claims can be reported via the e-SEGURNET app, the eCliente portal, by email to sinistro.auto@allianz.pt, or through an Allianz mediator. The completed DAAA (Declaração Amigável de Acidente Automóvel) must be submitted to Allianz for processing material-damage-only accidents involving two vehicles. The policyholder or insured must notify the insurer in writing as soon as possible and no later than 8 days from the date of the occurrence or the date on which they became aware of it, providing all relevant documentary and witness evidence for the correct determination of responsibilities. In case of theft or robbery, the occurrence must be reported immediately to the competent authorities. The policyholder or insured must notify Zurich of a covered claim in writing as soon as possible and no later than 8 days from the date of the occurrence or from the date of becoming aware of it, providing all relevant documentary and witness evidence. Failure to comply may result in liability for consequential damages. For theft/robbery leading to vehicle disappearance, a police report must be filed immediately, and Zurich pays the indemnification after 60 days if the vehicle is not recovered.
Deductible rules
Deductibles apply only to: Collision/Impact/Overturn (Choque, Colisão e Capotamento) and Strikes/Vandalism/Terrorism (Greves, Tumultos, Comoções Civis, Vandalismo e Atos de Terrorismo) coverages. No deductible is applied to: Glass, Fire/Lightning/Explosion, Theft/Robbery, or Natural Phenomena coverages. Two deductible options are available (standard and reduced), varying by vehicle insured capital (from under 5,000 EUR to over 500,000 EUR), type of workshop (Allianz network vs. outside), and module chosen. Using the Allianz partner workshop network results in a lower deductible than the standard amount. The DP Mais Sem Franquia module eliminates the deductible entirely for own damage coverages.A fixed deductible of 250 EUR applies to the Choque, Colisão ou Capotamento (collision/capsize) and Riscos Sociais e Políticos (vandalism/social risks) coverages. No deductible applies to other coverages (theft, fire, natural perils, isolated glass breakage) unless specifically agreed. In case of total loss where the salvage value is less than or equal to 30% of the vehicle's venal value, no deductible and no salvage value deduction apply. The deductible is always deducted from the indemnity by the insurer at the time of payment, including when paid directly to the repairer or any other entity. The deductible (franquia) amount or calculation method is set in the Particular Conditions of the policy. It is always deducted at the time of indemnification payment, even when paid directly to the repair entity. For glass breakage (Base tier): a €50 deductible applies to glass replacement; no deductible applies to glass repair. For the Total Loss (Perda Total – Condição Especial 011): no deductible applies unless otherwise agreed. For natural perils: minimum €125 deductible when a deductible regime above 0% is chosen. For terrorism/vandalism: minimum €250 deductible. For strikes/riots: minimum €125 deductible. For temporary loss of use: the first 3 days after the accident are not covered.
Proof and next steps
Direct payment policy
Claims can be reported via the eCliente portal, by email to sinistro.auto@allianz.pt, via the e-SEGURNET app, or through an Allianz mediator. Allianz does not make direct payments to repair shops on behalf of the insured; the insured uses the Allianz partner workshop network and Allianz settles with the network directly. For glass-only claims, no claims form is needed when using the Allianz glass network.Repairs are carried out exclusively at the Autoestima approved workshop network selected by Fidelidade. In case of total loss, Fidelidade promotes the search for a replacement vehicle at the policyholder's request. The insurer may opt to pay the indemnity in cash. The contractual deductible is always deducted by the insurer at the time of payment of the indemnity, including when paid directly to the repairer.Zurich may pay the repairer directly. The applicable deductible (franquia) is always deducted at the time of indemnification payment, even when made directly to the repair entity.
