Regulatory updates
In March 2024, the ASF authorized the incorporation of MGEN Portugal – Companhia de Seguros to operate in the Non-Life branches of Accident, Sickness, Civil Liability, Pecuniary Losses and Assistance, allowing the French mutual, which previously operated in Portugal only under the Freedom to Provide Services (LPS) regime via MGEN Distribuição de Seguros, to establish a fully licensed Portuguese insurance company (registered on 25/05/2023, share capital of €7,500,000) headquartered in Lisbon, with expansion plans to other countries from Portugal under the LPS regime.
