Euroins Romania Asigurare-Reasigurare SA was founded in 1994 (as Asitrans) and became part of the Bulgarian Eurohold group in 2007. It operated as a major non-life insurer in Romania — formerly the market leader in compulsory motor third-party liability (RCA) — until the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) withdrew its operating licence on 17 March 2023, triggering insolvency proceedings. Bankruptcy was declared by the Bucharest Tribunal on 9 June 2023 and confirmed as final by the Bucharest Court of Appeal on 11 February 2025. The company is currently in judicial liquidation managed by CITR Filiala București SPRL.

Regulatory updates
On 17 March 2023, ASF withdrew Euroins Romania's operating licence and declared the company insolvent (Decision no. 262/17.03.2023). The Bucharest Tribunal opened bankruptcy proceedings on 9 June 2023. Policies ceased to be valid from 8 December 2023 (general insurance) and 5 February 2024 (guarantee class). On 11 February 2025, the Bucharest Court of Appeal definitively confirmed the bankruptcy ruling. As of May 2025, the Policyholder Guarantee Fund (FGA) set a deadline of 13 May 2025 for creditors to submit payment claims. In November 2025, the High Court of Cassation and Justice rejected Euroins's remaining appeal against an earlier ASF sanction decision.
