If immediate contact is impossible, the insured must contact the assistance provider as soon as practicable. Failure to notify may result in reduced or refused indemnification. Claims must be submitted to the insurer within 60 days of completion of treatment or transport to the insured's home.

Unauthorized treatment

Medical expenses incurred without prior approval from CORIS Assistance (the assistance provider) will be reimbursed by the insurer only after full document review upon return to Romania. Repatriation costs incurred without the assistance provider's prior approval are not covered. Insurer may reduce or refuse payment if obligations regarding prior notification and approval are not met.

Purchase while abroad

The policy must be concluded on Romanian territory and before the start of the trip abroad. Policies concluded after departure or outside Romania are subject to a mandatory 3-day temporal deductible (franchise temporală obligatorie) calculated from the policy inception date. The policy can be activated via the Raiffeisen Smart Mobile app even after leaving Romania, but the 3-day deductible applies.

Exception: acute exacerbations of chronic conditions already recorded in the insured's medical history that require emergency life-saving measures or that require solely pain relief measures are covered up to a sub-limit of 1,000 EUR (Art. 2.5.a).

Pregnancy

Pregnancy routine care, terminations, premature births, fertility/sterility treatments are excluded. Exception: acute complications arising during pregnancy (up to 30 weeks of gestation) are covered for measures aimed solely at saving the life of the mother and/or child. Pregnancy complications are also an insured risk for trip cancellation/interruption purposes (Art. 4.7.3.h).

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Any condition, illness diagnosed, manifested or treated before the policy inception date is considered pre-existing and is generally excluded. The only exception is acute exacerbations of chronic conditions requiring emergency life-saving intervention or acute pain relief, covered up to 1,000 EUR (Art. 2.5.a). Treatments that can be postponed until return to Romania are not covered.
