Direct payment

Claims are settled in euro, generally by bank transfer to the policyholder's account. Indemnity is due within 15 days of the insurer completing its investigation, which must be carried out without undue delay (typically within one month of notification); a reasonable advance payment is provided on request if entitlement is proven but the investigation is not yet complete.

Geographic scope

Europe (geographical territory)

Cover applies to insured events occurring anywhere within the geographical territory of Europe.

Unique selling points

  • GAP insurance is automatically included free of charge for the first policy year, covering the gap between purchase price and market value on a total loss.
  • Replacement vehicle costs are covered under the base policy without needing to buy an add-on, up to €30/day for 3 days.
  • Luggage, child car-seats and roof boxes/bike carriers are automatically covered up to €200 per item (€1,000 cumulative) and €500 respectively.
  • Motorcyclists' protective clothing (helmet, jacket, trousers, gloves, boots, body armour) is covered up to €100 per claim.
  • Free 24/7 assistance hotline for accidents, breakdowns and theft, both in Slovakia and abroad.

Coverage limits

Own damage (collision / accident cover)

Covered

Covers damage to or destruction of the insured vehicle caused by collision with any obstacle, collision with another road user, or the fall/impact of objects that are not part of the insured vehicle (trees, poles, rocks, etc.). The insured sum (poistná suma) is agreed individually per vehicle in the policy; indemnity is capped at the vehicle's general value (všeobecná hodnota vozidla) at the time of the claim, and never exceeds the agreed sum insured. Repair costs up to 90% of that general value are treated as a 'damaged vehicle' (partial loss); above that threshold the vehicle is a 'destroyed vehicle' (total loss).

Source

Total loss (destroyed vehicle)

Covered

A vehicle is 'destroyed' when reasonable repair costs exceed 90% of its general value at the time of the claim. In that case the insurer pays the general value of the vehicle at the time of the claim, less the value of usable remains and the agreed deductible, capped at the sum insured. Usable remains stay the property of the policyholder.

Source

Partial loss (damaged vehicle)

Covered

A vehicle is 'damaged' (not destroyed) when reasonable repair costs do not exceed 90% of its general value at the time of the claim. The insurer reimburses the actually incurred, reasonable repair costs at prices usual at the time of the claim, less the value of replaced parts kept as remains and the agreed deductible.

Source

Theft and robbery

10% of insured sum

Covers theft of the whole insured vehicle by burglary or robbery, and theft of vehicle parts by burglary/robbery (part-theft cover does not apply to motorcycles). Payout equals the vehicle's general value at the time of the claim, capped at the sum insured; theft of additionally installed accessories is capped at 10% of the total sum insured per policy period.

Source

Glass damage

€600

Base cover includes damage to the vehicle's glass caused by any of the insured perils (not applicable to motorcycles). Deductible is €0 if the glass is repaired without replacement; if only the windscreen is damaged and must be replaced, a special deductible of 5% (min. €150) applies regardless of the deductible for other claims. An optional 'glass' rider (deductible buy-out) reimburses the deductible on glass-replacement claims up to a limit of €600, for a maximum of two claims per policy period.

Source

Natural perils

Covered

Covers damage or destruction of the vehicle caused by fire, lightning, hail, windstorm, landslide or avalanche, earthquake, flood, inundation, water escaping from water installations, and collision with wildlife during vehicle operation. Indemnity follows the same total/partial-loss rules and is capped at the sum insured.

Source

Vandalism / third-party interference

Covered

Covers damage to the insured vehicle caused by a person other than the insured ('zásah cudzej osoby'), regardless of the form of fault (intentional or negligent). Indemnity follows the same total/partial-loss rules and is capped at the sum insured.

24/7 roadside assistance

€200

Included free of charge for accident, breakdown or theft events for the duration of the cover, available 24 hours a day/365 days a year via a dedicated hotline (+421 2 57 88 97 77). In Slovakia/Czech Republic: on-site repair or towing to the nearest workshop up to €100 per event, vehicle storage up to €10/day for 5 days. Abroad: on-site repair or towing up to €200 per event, storage up to €10/day for 5 days, plus scrapping contribution up to €200. Additional services include replacement transport/accommodation and, abroad, a replacement driver and legal assistance, all subject to per-service limits.

Replacement vehicle costs

€350

Automatically included in the base policy: rental cost of a replacement vehicle while the insured vehicle is being repaired after an accident, natural peril, partial theft, or vandalism, or until the policyholder is informed the vehicle is a total loss. Base limit is €30 per day of rental, max. 3 days per policy period (up to €90). An optional 'replacement vehicle' rider raises the daily limit to a reasonable rental price for a comparable vehicle (max. €70/day); combined with the base cover, the total limit from both is capped at €350 per policy period. Deductible for this cover is €0.

Optional in-vehicle accident cover (driver/occupants)

Optional

If explicitly agreed in the policy, an optional add-on covers permanent injury and death resulting from an accident affecting occupants of the insured vehicle. The IPID confirms this rider is offered for M1/N1 category vehicles up to 3.5 t, motorcycles, tricycles and quad bikes, but the specific insured sum for this rider is not stated in the currently reviewed general terms and conditions (it is set out in the individual policy schedule).

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

If, at the time of an accident-peril claim (collision/impact), the insured vehicle was driven by a person under 25 years of age who is not the vehicle's owner, an additional deductible of €200 is deducted from the indemnity on top of the standard contractual deductible.

Repair network requirements

Repairs carried out at a service centre within Wüstenrot's contracted repair network ('zmluvný servis') qualify the policyholder for a reduced ('favourable') deductible instead of the standard one; the current amount of this reduced deductible is published on the insurer's website rather than fixed as a number in the T&Cs.

Territorial scope

The insurance applies to insured events occurring anywhere within the geographical territory of Europe.

Anti-theft requirements

For vehicles insured up to €80,000, the vehicle must be fitted with an immobiliser, a mechanical anti-theft device permanently fixed to the body, or an alarm with function blocking. For sums insured above €80,000, a combination of at least two of the following is required: immobiliser, mechanical device fixed to the body, alarm with function blocking, VIN PRINT etching, SNOOPER device, or satellite tracking device. For motorcycles, a functional security device fitted by the manufacturer is sufficient.

Claim notification deadline

The policyholder must notify the insurer in writing that an insured event has occurred without undue delay, and no later than 15 days from discovering it.

Deductible rules

The standard deductible is 10% of the claim, minimum €300, unless a different amount is agreed in the policy. The deductible is reduced to €0 for: glass repair without replacement, the optional glass deductible buy-out rider, the base and optional replacement-vehicle cover, and the GAP cover/rider. An additional €200 deductible applies where an at-fault accident-peril claim was caused by a driver under 25 who is not the owner. Claims involving damage solely to the windscreen carry a special deductible of 5% (min. €150), regardless of the deductible applicable to other claims.
