Overview
NN Životná poisťovňa, a.s. is a life insurance and pension savings specialist that entered the Slovak market in 1996 as Nationale-Nederlanden and later operated under the ING brand before returning to the NN name in 2015. It is part of the international NN Group and became the third-largest life insurer in Slovakia in 2022 after completing the acquisition of AEGON's Slovak and Czech operations between 2019 and 2022. The NN brand in Slovakia covers NN Životná poisťovňa, a.s. (life insurance), NN dôchodková správcovská spoločnosť, a.s. (2nd pillar pension), NN Tatry – Sympatia, d.d.s., a.s. (3rd pillar pension), and NN Finančné služby, s.r.o. (financial intermediation).

Regulatory updates
NN Životná poisťovňa, a.s. is registered and supervised by Národná banka Slovenska (NBS). In December 2025, NBS imposed a EUR 100,000 fine on the company for long-term, systemic breaches of the Insurance Act related to the management of its own investment funds and consumer protection: the insurer failed to draw up statutes for several of its own investment funds between 2016 and November 2021, and NBS found that a November 2021 reorganisation replacing 13 funds with 3 new ones (dynamic, balanced, conservative) was carried out without due professional care toward clients. The company acknowledged the shortcomings and stated it has since strengthened transparency and client communication processes; its products and existing policy terms remain unchanged and it retains full authorisation and active market status.
