Green Card (International Motor Insurance Certificate)

Covered

The insurer issues a Green Card valid for one insurance period upon conclusion of the policy. The Green Card is an internationally recognised proof of MTPL insurance. PZP is valid in all Green Card system countries. Countries requiring presentation of the Green Card include Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, Israel, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Russian Federation, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine. In other designated countries, PZP is recognised automatically based on the vehicle registration number.

Roadside assistance (basic)

Covered

Basic roadside assistance is included in the COMFORT package (and all higher packages): on-site repair (up to 1 hour labour), vehicle towing to a contracted workshop within 20 km, passenger transport up to 50 km (train/bus/taxi), tyre change at breakdown location, and information services. Available 24/7 via +421 2 50 122 222. EV charging or towing to nearest public charging point included. Dead battery assistance limited to max. 2 times per insurance period. Geographic scope: Europe (excl. Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova).

Driver accident insurance (basic)

Covered

Basic accident insurance covering the driver of the insured vehicle who is a participant in a traffic accident (while driving, boarding/alighting, or loading/unloading the vehicle). Pays the insured sum stated in the policy for: death due to accident; permanent consequences of injury at 70% or more. Specific sum insured is stated in the individual policy contract. In PLUS/EXTRA/MAX packages the limits are double those of the COMFORT package.

Passenger accident insurance (basic)

Covered

Basic accident insurance also covers passengers transported in the insured vehicle who are participants in a traffic accident (while being transported, boarding/alighting, or during loading/unloading). Pays the insured sum stated in the policy for: death due to accident; permanent consequences of injury at 70% or more. Does not cover persons transported in a trailer or semi-trailer. In PLUS/EXTRA/MAX packages the limits are double those of the COMFORT package.

Key conditions

territorial_scope

MTPL coverage is valid in all countries of the Green Card system (international motor insurance certificate). Assistance services are valid within the geographic territory of Europe including the European part of Turkey and the Greek part of Cyprus, with the exception of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Moldova. Legal assistance applies only in the territory of the Slovak Republic.

green_card_rules

The Green Card is issued by the insurer with validity for one insurance period. Upon conclusion of the contract, a preliminary Green Card valid for 60 days is issued; after acceptance, a Green Card valid for 1 year is sent. Countries in which the Green Card must be presented: Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, Israel, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, Russian Federation, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine. In other Green Card system countries, the PZP is recognised automatically based on the vehicle registration plate. The Green Card must be surrendered or invalidated upon termination of the policy.

driver_restrictions

The insurer is entitled to seek reimbursement of paid claims if the vehicle was operated by a person who: drove without the required driving licence or under a court-imposed driving ban; drove under the influence of addictive substances; refused a sobriety or substance test after an accident; was knowingly entrusted the vehicle by the policyholder despite not meeting legal requirements; or used the vehicle without authorisation. No minimum driver age restriction is stated for the COMFORT MTPL package, though factors such as the driver being under 24 years are considered in premium calculation.

claim_notification_deadline

The insured must notify the insurer in writing of the occurrence of an insured event within 15 days of its occurrence if it occurred on the territory of the Slovak Republic, or within 30 days if it occurred outside the Slovak Republic. Late notification (after these deadlines) entitles the insurer to reduce the claim payout by 20%. Incidents best reported as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours, via www.allianz.sk/skoda or Infoline +421 2 50 122 222. Traffic accidents reportable to police under applicable law must be reported to the police.

bonus_malus_rules

The bonus/malus system has been in effect since 01.01.2002 and applies to all vehicle types except motorcycles (incl. trikes and quads) with engine capacity up to 50 cc, tractors, self-propelled work machines without a registration number, and trailers other than semi-trailers. At policy inception, the vehicle is placed in the basic class (Z, 0 months, 0% adjustment). Each claim reduces the loss history period by 36 months. Positive loss history period: max. 120 months (class B10: 60% discount). Negative loss history period: max. 60 months (class M5: 60% surcharge). For individuals, loss history is tracked for the last 10 years; for companies, the last 5 years. Prior loss history from a lapsed policy is transferable if the gap between policies is under 1 year (no change); over 1 year but under 5 years (positive period reduced by elapsed months); over 5 years (positive period not transferred, negative period unchanged). Bonus is not granted if the previous policy lapsed due to non-payment.
