Green card rules
The Green Card is issued by the insurer with validity for one insurance period. On online purchase a temporary card is available immediately; the annual card is sent by post within 30 days or electronically if e-correspondence has been set up. The Green Card is re-issued annually upon payment of the premium for the next policy period. The insurer issues the Green Card (International Motor Insurance Certificate) to the policyholder without undue delay after conclusion of the insurance contract. The policyholder must return or destroy the Green Card within 15 days of policy termination. The insured must carry the Green Card during all journeys as proof of liability insurance. A temporary Green Card valid for 1 month is available immediately upon online conclusion of the policy. The insurer issues the International Motor Insurance Card (Green Card) to the policyholder without delay after the contract is concluded and after premium payment. Bonus malus rules
The bonus/malus system has been in effect since 01.01.2002 and applies to all vehicle types except motorcycles (incl. trikes and quads) with engine capacity up to 50 cc, tractors, self-propelled work machines without a registration number, and trailers other than semi-trailers. At policy inception, the vehicle is placed in the basic class (Z, 0 months, 0% adjustment). Each claim reduces the loss history period by 36 months. Positive loss history period: max. 120 months (class B10: 60% discount). Negative loss history period: max. 60 months (class M5: 60% surcharge). For individuals, loss history is tracked for the last 10 years; for companies, the last 5 years. Prior loss history from a lapsed policy is transferable if the gap between policies is under 1 year (no change); over 1 year but under 5 years (positive period reduced by elapsed months); over 5 years (positive period not transferred, negative period unchanged). Bonus is not granted if the previous policy lapsed due to non-payment.Bonuses (premium discounts) are awarded for claim-free periods and increase with the number of claim-free months. Malus surcharges are applied based on the number of at-fault claims; ČSOB applies a malus of 50% per at-fault claim up to a maximum of 150%. The claims history is verified through the Slovak Insurers' Bureau central register covering a 10-year lookback period. The minimum annual premium after applying any discount is EUR 69.99. Discounts do not apply to add-on coverages.Generali applies its own contractual bonus/malus system (not a centrally legislated statutory schedule) when agreed in the insurance contract, across all motor vehicle categories. A bonus (premium discount) is granted for claim-free history; a malus (premium surcharge) is applied for a claims history. The decisive period is continuous uninterrupted insurance without a qualifying claim event. For each qualifying claim event the decisive period is reduced by 24 months; for each claim-free period it increases by 12 months. The maximum bonus-qualifying period is 84 months (60% discount at B7 level); maximum malus period is 60 months (60% surcharge at M5 level). Prior loss history from the last 10 years may be considered. Bonus may only be transferred for the same vehicle category with the same registered holder. The insurer applies a bonus-malus system based on the total previous claims history of the person obliged to take out the contract, as verified in the Slovak Insurers' Bureau (SKP) registry. The SKP database covers insurance claim data and total insurance duration over the last 10 years. The resulting individual client rating (bonita) directly affects the premium amount.
