Key conditions
territorial_scope
Mandatory RC (PRIMERA A) covers Spain. Voluntary RC (PRIMERA B) extends to Spain, the European Union, and other European territories as specified in the Condiciones Particulares. Roadside assistance (SEXTA) covers Spain and abroad from km 0.
green_card_rules
No green card required within the EEA (EU member states plus Andorra, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein). For travel to non-EEA countries such as Morocco, Albania, Turkey, Tunisia, Ukraine, Moldova, Israel, Iran, etc., a CIS (formerly green card) must be requested from FIATC in advance. Insurers are not legally obligated to issue the CIS.
driver_restrictions
Coverage excludes claims caused by intentional acts or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. FIATC may exercise right of recourse against the driver or insured in such cases after paying the third party indemnification. All drivers using the vehicle should be declared to FIATC as it may affect premium and coverage.
claim_notification_deadline
The insured must notify FIATC of a claim as soon as possible, and within a maximum of 7 calendar days from the date of the incident, in accordance with Article 16 of the Spanish Insurance Contract Act (Ley 50/1980). Failure to notify within this period may result in coverage being denied, unless force majeure applies.
bonus_malus_rules
FIATC applies a bonus-malus system based on claims history. Good drivers (no at-fault claims) can receive discounts of up to 65% on their premium. The bonus is calculated based on the number of at-fault claims and years with the insurer. Claims affecting the bonus are those where the insured assumes liability for RC mandatory, RC voluntary, and own damage guarantees.
