Driver Personal Accident Coverage

Covered

Covers the driver of the insured vehicle in the event of death or permanent sequelae resulting from a traffic accident, up to the capital stated in the Particular Conditions (12,000 EUR per the IPID for Turismo Premium). Indemnity for permanent sequelae is calculated by percentage of capital according to a defined scale (100% for total loss of limbs/sight/mental capacity; 60% for loss of one limb; 30% for partial disabilities; 10% for joint ankylosis). Healthcare expenses are covered at 100% in Helvetia-contracted centres, or up to 1,000 EUR per claim in non-contracted centres, for up to 365 days from the accident date. Excluded: drivers under 25 years old or holding a licence for less than 2 years, unless expressly declared in the Particular Conditions as an occasional driver.

Passenger Injury Claims Coverage

Not offered

The IPID for Turismo Premium lists 'Reclamación de lesiones de los ocupantes del vehículo' as a mandatory guarantee, but with coverage amount 'según condiciones contratadas' (as per contracted conditions). No fixed indemnity sum for passenger death or permanent disability is stated in the official sources; this is a damage-claim facilitation service rather than a fixed personal accident indemnity. The T&C's 'Accidentes del conductor' explicitly applies only to the driver, not passengers. Accordingly, a standalone passenger accident indemnity value cannot be confirmed.

Key conditions

territorial_scope

All coverages apply in Spain, the European Economic Area, Gibraltar, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City. Mandatory civil liability additionally covers all countries under the Green Card Convention. Roadside assistance for persons is valid worldwide; for vehicles and occupants, it is valid in Spain and Europe and Mediterranean-bordering countries. In Spain, vehicle assistance applies beyond 25 km from the insured's home address (10 km in the Balearic and Canary Islands), except towing and rescue which operate from km 0.

green_card_rules

The insurer issues a Green Card (International Motor Insurance Certificate) in accordance with the Green Card Convention. Mandatory civil liability coverage automatically extends to all signatory countries of the Green Card Convention. The insured must carry the Green Card document when travelling outside Spain to countries requiring it.

driver_restrictions

All regular and occasional drivers of the insured vehicle must be declared in the policy. The driver personal accident guarantee does not apply to drivers under 25 years old or with a driving licence of less than 2 years' seniority, unless expressly declared in the Particular Conditions as an occasional driver. Legal defence coverage applies only to the main driver and any authorised driver over 25 years old with more than 2 years' licence seniority. Damage caused by a driver exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit or under the influence of drugs is excluded.

claim_notification_deadline

The insured must notify Helvetia of any accident or covered event within a maximum of 7 days of becoming aware of it, unless the contract specifies a longer period. Notification can be made by telephone through the claims service centre or by completing an accident report at the branch where the policy was taken out. For roadside assistance, the insured must contact Asitur's 24-hour central immediately when the incident occurs. Reimbursement requests for roadside assistance must be submitted within 30 days of the event date.

bonus_malus_rules

The premium is calculated based on risk factors, claims history and the insured's declarations. It is reviewed at each policy renewal period and varies according to claims declared and the insured's responsibility in them, as well as actuarial studies to ensure premium adequacy. No-claims discounts of up to 60% can be obtained after 10 consecutive years without any at-fault claim.
