COVID-19 treatment abroad

Conditional

COVID-19 treatment abroad is not explicitly mentioned. Under the general terms, pre-existing known conditions and epidemias declaradas oficialmente are excluded (Cláusula III.B). Pre-existing conditions

Excluded

Expenses caused by the diagnosis or treatment of a physiological condition or illness already known before the trip start date are excluded, unless it is a clear and unforeseeable complication. Treatments prescribed in Spain before departure are also excluded. Mental illnesses and chronic diseases that have caused health alterations in the insured are also excluded.

Conditional

Not explicitly addressed in the abroad coverage section. Pregnancy and childbirth are covered domestically under the main policy, but the abroad emergency coverage only covers urgent medical needs arising from illness or accident. Domestic coverage excludes deliveries outside hospital settings.

Personal liability abroad

Excluded

Personal liability coverage is not included in the Néctar Contigo abroad coverage section. The legal assistance provision (item 11) covers only legal costs arising from traffic accidents, and the bail advance (item 12) is a loan, not a liability indemnification.

Legal assistance abroad (traffic accidents only)

Conditional

SANITAS pays up to €1,500 for lawyer and court representative fees arising from legal assistance following a traffic accident abroad. This coverage applies only when the insured is imprisoned or prosecuted as a result of a traffic accident. If this benefit is also covered by the vehicle insurance policy, the payment is treated as an advance to be repaid by SANITAS. A bail advance of up to €10,000 is also available as a loan (item 12).

Covered

The Sanitas 24 horas service provides 24/7 telephone assistance for medical advice, emergency guidance, and coordination of the abroad coverage services. The service also transmits urgent messages (item 14) and coordinates all logistical aspects of the abroad coverage.

The insured must contact SANITAS and request prior authorization BEFORE any medical service is performed (except vital emergencies). In case of vital emergency, the insured must notify SANITAS within a maximum of 7 days from hospital admission, providing a copy of the emergency medical report.

Unauthorized treatment

Medical services received without prior SANITAS authorization (except vital emergencies) are not covered. SANITAS will not cover costs from non-designated providers or unauthorized treatments. The authorization voucher is void if the insured does not meet all policy requirements at the time of service.

Purchase while abroad

This coverage is an integral part of the main Néctar Contigo health policy and cannot be purchased independently while already abroad. The policy must be in force and premium payments up to date for the abroad coverage to apply.

Chronic conditions

Chronic diseases that have caused health alterations in the insured are explicitly excluded from the abroad coverage. Pre-existing chronic conditions known before the trip start date are also excluded, unless a complication is clear and unforeseeable.

Pregnancy

The abroad emergency coverage does not explicitly cover pregnancy. Clear and unforeseeable pregnancy complications occurring abroad may be covered as a general medical emergency within the €12,000 limit. Planned deliveries and routine antenatal care abroad are not covered under the abroad emergency supplement.

pre_existing_conditions

Expenses for diagnosis or treatment of a physiological condition or illness already known before the trip start date are excluded. Exception: when such condition leads to a clear and unforeseeable complication abroad, that complication may be covered. Treatments prescribed in Spain prior to the trip are excluded.

coverage_duration_limit
