Direct payment

The premium must be paid before departure for the policy to be valid; if purchased on the day travel begins, cover starts only once payment is received. For acute matters, travellers covered by their home insurance's travel protection must contact their home insurer's own alarm centre, while others contact Europeiska ERV Alarm.

Geographic scope

The geographic area stated in the insurance certificate/booking confirmation

Valid within the area stated in the insurance certificate, but not for travel to areas where the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory; if an advisory is issued after arrival, cover continues for up to 14 days provided you leave the area or are evacuated at the first opportunity.

Unique selling points

  • Pays up to 50,000 SEK per insured (200,000 SEK per policy) for destroyed vacation days, including a replacement trip with 65% paid in cash immediately.
  • Eliminates the deductible on a rented car, motorhome, boat, motorcycle, moped, snowmobile or bicycle at the destination, up to 25,000 SEK per claim.
  • Covers search and rescue costs up to 100,000 SEK per insured (300,000 SEK per event).
  • Pays for a brand-new suitcase if your home needs professional bedbug sanitation after the trip.
  • Includes up to 10,000 SEK of crisis therapy for both the insured and their close relatives after a serious accident, violent event, natural disaster or terrorist act.

Coverage limits

Medical expenses

SEK 2,000

Reimburses only the deductible you paid to your home insurer for illness/accident medical costs, or your own outlay if costs are below that deductible, capped at 2,000 SEK per claim/insured. Primary medical costs above 2,000 SEK must instead be claimed via your home insurance's alarm centre.

Source

Emergency medical treatment

SEK 2,000

Covers doctor/hospital/treatment costs and prescribed medicine only up to the 2,000 SEK deductible-reimbursement cap; the policy is designed to complement home-insurance travel protection, not to be a primary medical policy.

Source

Hospitalization

SEK 2,000

Hospital costs fall under the same self-risk/outlay reimbursement benefit, capped at 2,000 SEK per claim; not a standalone hospitalization benefit.

Source

Outpatient treatment

SEK 2,000

Outpatient doctor/treatment costs are included in the same 2,000 SEK deductible-reimbursement cap under Section 6.

Source

Emergency dental treatment

SEK 2,000

Temporary treatment for acute dental problems is included within the same 2,000 SEK self-risk/outlay cap under Section 6.

Source

Medical transport

Excluded

The IPID explicitly lists illness, accident or repatriation transport (hemtransport) under 'not included', except for the capped 2,000 SEK deductible-reimbursement benefit; primary transport costs are not covered.

Source

Medical evacuation

Excluded

Not covered as a medical benefit; hemtransport is excluded per the IPID except the capped 2,000 SEK item. Note: the policy's separate 'Evakuering' benefit (Section 10) covers evacuation due to natural disaster, terrorism or war, not medically-driven evacuation.

Repatriation of remains

Excluded

No standalone repatriation-of-remains benefit is stated; hemtransport in general is excluded per the IPID except the capped 2,000 SEK deductible item.

Source

Search and rescue

SEK 100,000

Covers necessary and reasonable costs for police, civil or military search and/or rescue, up to 100,000 SEK per insured and a maximum of 300,000 SEK per claim event; excludes search/rescue related to kidnapping or hijacking, and requires pre-approval by Europeiska ERV.

COVID-19 treatment

Conditional

Pre-existing conditions

No limit stated

Not addressed as a standalone benefit; related exclusions appear only under the 'Förstörd semester' (destroyed vacation) benefit (see key conditions).

Winter Sports Cover

Conditional

Adventure / extreme sports cover

Excluded

Extreme sports, professional sports and mountaineering are excluded under the general exclusions; the IPID also lists 'extreme or professional sport' as not included.

Source

Pregnancy Complications

Conditional

Personal liability

SEK 10,000,000

Covers third-party liability claims for personal injury or property damage caused by you during the trip, up to 10,000,000 SEK per claim event (combined limit for personal and property damage together).

Source

Legal assistance

SEK 100,000

Covers necessary and reasonable legal costs arising from specific, ongoing disputes during your trip abroad, up to 100,000 SEK per trip, subject to a deductible of 10% of the total claim cost (minimum 2,500 SEK), applied per instance on appeal.

Source

24/7 assistance

Covered

Europeiska ERV Alarm provides a 24/7, year-round emergency assistance line for acute matters (medical advice, referral to nearest care provider, payment guarantees); travellers covered by home-insurance travel protection instead contact their home insurer's alarm centre.

Source

Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

Costs for trip interruption, evacuation, crisis therapy and search & rescue must be pre-approved by Europeiska ERV before they are incurred. For acute emergencies, call Europeiska ERV Alarm — unless covered by your home insurance's travel protection, in which case you must contact your home insurer's own 24/7 alarm centre instead.

Unauthorized treatment

If you incur costs for trip interruption, evacuation, crisis therapy or search/rescue without Europeiska ERV's prior approval, or fail to follow the policy's care/safety requirements (e.g. no P.I.R. report, unsecured valuables), compensation can be reduced or refused depending on the severity of the breach.

Purchase while abroad

The terms do not address buying the policy while already abroad; they only state the insurance must be paid before departure to be valid, and if bought on the day travel begins it takes effect only once payment is received.

Chronic conditions

No compensation for destroyed-vacation daily allowance or replacement trip is paid where symptoms appeared or treatment was needed in the two months before departure, nor for complications of conditions under planned treatment.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy itself is not specifically addressed; the only related exclusion is that induced abortion is excluded from destroyed-vacation compensation.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Under 'Förstörd semester' (destroyed vacation), no compensation is paid if symptoms or treatment need existed within two months before departure, nor for complications after planned surgery/treatment already scheduled before the trip.

Coverage duration limit

The policy must be taken out for the entire length of the trip and may run for a maximum of 365 days; validity begins when you leave home and ends when you return to the Nordic region.
