Key conditions

Assistance call deadline

In the event of acute illness or accident abroad, the insured must contact SOS International as a first priority. Before any major operation or extensive treatment outside the Nordic countries, SOS International must be contacted. Failure to comply may result in reduced compensation.

Unauthorized treatment

If the insured undergoes major surgery or extensive treatment abroad without prior approval from SOS International (outside the Nordic countries), compensation may be reduced or denied.

Purchase while abroad

The travel insurance is included in the home insurance policy and must be in force before departure. Extended travel cover (förlängt reseskydd) for trips exceeding 45 days must be arranged before the 45 days have elapsed; it can be arranged by calling Trygg-Hansa customer service.

Chronic conditions

Chronic diseases and pre-existing conditions are not covered unless a free medical pre-assessment (medicinsk förhandsbedömning) is obtained from SOS International before departure. This assessment determines whether coverage applies with or without specific exclusions.

Pregnancy

Trygg-Hansa's travel insurance applies to pregnant travellers abroad. Acute complications during pregnancy may be covered as acute illness. The insurer also offers a dedicated pregnancy insurance (gravidförsäkring) valid abroad.

Pre-existing condition exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered as standard. If the insured is ill or has an existing injury before departure, a medical pre-assessment must be completed with SOS International to determine whether and under what conditions coverage applies.

Coverage duration limit

The travel insurance included in the home insurance covers the first 45 days of travel. For trips longer than 45 days, extended travel cover (förlängt reseskydd) must be purchased before the 45-day period expires, available up to 365 days.
