Generali Versicherung AG
Generali
Generali is a motor casco insurance for the Austria market with no online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
The first or single premium (including insurance tax) is payable against issuance of the policy; subsequent premiums are due on the agreed main due date or, if instalments are agreed, on the respective agreed due dates (annually, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly). Cover generally only becomes effective once the first premium is paid.
Geographic scope
Europe (geographic sense)
Cover applies to Europe in the geographical sense, and in any case to the territory of the states that signed the Agreement between the national insurers' bureaux of the EEA member states and other associated states of 30 May 2002 (Andorra, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Czechia, Hungary, Cyprus).
Unique selling points
- Kasko premium classification is set once at inception from the policyholder's MTPL bonus-malus level and never re-rated upward even after a claim during the contract term.
- The optional Neuwertklausel replaces the usual depreciated payout with the original purchase price on a declining scale for up to 48 months for near-new vehicles.
- The Elektroplus-Paket offers EV-specific protection rarely bundled elsewhere, including charging-cable theft, indirect lightning strikes and cyberattack software-repair costs.
- The Kaskoplus-Paket adds no-extra-deductible cover for everyday extras such as personal item theft, key replacement, and animal bites inside the vehicle.
- The Mietwagen-Vorteil extends the policyholder's own low deductible to rental and car-sharing vehicles used after a claim, a benefit not standard in basic Vollkasko policies.
Coverage limits
Own damage (collision) coverage
100% of insured sum
Vollkasko covers damage to the insured vehicle from accident (an event acting suddenly and directly from outside with mechanical force), vandalism by third parties, and collision of the parked vehicle with an unknown vehicle, in addition to the Teilkasko perils. A deductible applies as agreed; in the standard Vollkasko many perils are covered without deductible, while in the 'Vollkasko mit durchgehender Selbstbeteiligung' variant the deductible applies to all perils.
Total loss settlement
100% of insured sum
In case of total loss (vehicle destroyed, stolen and not recovered within two months, or repair cost plus residual value exceeding replacement value), Generali pays the replacement value (Wiederbeschaffungswert), less any deductible. If the optional Neuwertklausel applies (vehicles not older than 6 months at contract inception), the purchase price is used instead of the replacement value during the first 48 months from first registration, on a declining percentage scale (100% up to 12 months, 85% up to 18, 80% up to 24, 70% up to 36, 60% up to 48 months).
Partial loss / repair cost settlement
100% of insured sum
For partial (non-total) loss, Generali pays repair costs, necessary spare-part transport costs, and recovery/towing costs to the nearest suitable workshop, less a betterment ('new for old') deduction on tyres, battery and paintwork during the first three years (no deduction at all for cars/estates/trucks up to 1.5t payload); EV/hybrid drive batteries are subject to a 10% deduction per operating year.
Theft, robbery and unauthorised use
100% of insured sum
Theft, robbery or unauthorised use of the vehicle by persons outside the household is covered without a deductible in the standard Vollkasko, and with the agreed deductible (€375–€2,000) in the 'Vollkasko mit durchgehender Selbstbeteiligung' variant. Recovery costs after the vehicle is found are reimbursed up to 2% of the replacement value without deduction of any deductible.
Windscreen and glass breakage
Covered
Breakage of windscreen, side and rear windows and glass roofs (for cars, estates and trucks up to 1.5t payload) is covered regardless of cause, with a fixed deductible of €375, optionally reducible by €150, or waived entirely if the glass is repaired rather than replaced (e.g. NOVUS method). Separate from this, an optional 'Kleinglasschutz' module covers breakage of headlight, indicator and mirror glass without deductible.
Natural hazards
100% of insured sum
Damage from lightning, rockfall, landslide, avalanche, snow pressure, hail, flooding and storm (wind over 60 km/h), plus roof-avalanche damage, is covered with a fixed deductible of €375 (or the selected level up to €2,000 in the durchgehende-SB variant); the deductible can optionally be waived against a premium surcharge.
Vandalism and parking damage
100% of insured sum
Malicious or wilful acts by persons outside the household (vandalism) and damage to the parked vehicle from collision with an unknown vehicle are covered with a selectable deductible of €375–€2,000. A dedicated 'Parkschadenkasko' variant is also available covering only these perils plus the Teilkasko perils.
Roadside assistance
Excluded
Roadside assistance is not part of the Vollkasko cover itself; it is provided under the separate Tip&Tat KfzAktiv Plus assistance product.
Replacement vehicle
Excluded
The AKKB 2025 explicitly exclude loss of use and the cost of a replacement vehicle from the Vollkasko benefit (Art. 5.2.3). The 'Mietwagen-Vorteil' add-on only extends the policyholder's own deductible level to a vehicle they have separately rented after a claim; it does not itself provide a replacement car.
Driver/occupant accident protection
Excluded
Personal accident protection for occupants is not part of Vollkasko; it is offered separately as Insassenschutz (occupant accident insurance).
Key conditions
Driver age and experience limit
The AKKB 2025 do not specify a minimum driver age or experience requirement; however, the vehicle may only be driven by a person holding the driving licence required under Austrian traffic law, and cover is void if driven without it.
Repair network requirements
There is no mandatory repair workshop network. Before starting repairs or otherwise disposing of the damaged vehicle, the policyholder must, where reasonably possible, give Generali the opportunity to inspect the vehicle or assess the damage and obtain its consent.
Territorial scope
Cover applies to Europe in the geographical sense, and in any case to the territory of the states that signed the Agreement between the national insurers' bureaux of the EEA member states and other associated states of 30 May 2002 (Green Card states).
Anti-theft requirements
The AKKB 2025 do not prescribe specific anti-theft devices (e.g. alarm, immobiliser) as a precondition for theft cover; the general obligations to use the vehicle safely and lawfully apply.
Claim notification deadline
The policyholder must notify Generali of the claim, giving as precise details as possible, at the latest within one week; the same deadline applies to notifying the initiation of related administrative or court proceedings.
Deductible rules
A deductible applies per vehicle and per claim in the agreed amount. For glass breakage the fixed deductible is €375 (waived if the glass is repaired rather than replaced). For accident, natural hazards, vandalism and parking damage the base deductible is €500, selectable between €375 and €2,000; the deductible can optionally be waived (against surcharge) for the natural-hazards risk or doubled for the accident risk in the Vollkasko variants. Many other perils (fire, theft, wildlife collision, cabling damage) are covered without any deductible in the standard Vollkasko, while the 'Vollkasko mit durchgehender Selbstbeteiligung' variant applies the deductible to all covered perils.
