Direct payment

The premium is paid according to the contractual agreement annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly in advance, e.g. by payment slip or direct debit authorization.

Geographic scope

Austria

Coverage extends to Europe in the geographic sense, and in any case to the territory of the states that signed the agreement between the national insurance bureaus of the EEA member states and other associated states of 30 May 2002; the territorial scope can be extended contractually.

Unique selling points

  • Special E-Mobility package covers battery (traction battery) damage, indirect lightning strikes during charging, cyber/hacking attacks, damage from charger operating errors, and theft of the charging cable.
  • At KLV-certified partner workshops, the workshop itself absorbs up to EUR 150 of the agreed deductible for claims from EUR 650 and provides a free replacement vehicle where available.
  • Long-standing regional partnerships enable especially fast handling of hail damage claims through the 'Dellendrücker' (dent-repair) service.
  • The deductible is freely selectable, starting as low as EUR 390.

Coverage limits

Own vehicle damage

Not established from the insurer's documents

The insurer compensates repair costs for partial damage, or the replacement value (Wiederbeschaffungswert) of a vehicle of the same type and condition at the time of the loss in case of total loss; no fixed monetary ceiling is stated, compensation is based on actual value rather than a fixed sum insured.

Total loss

Not established from the insurer's documents

A total loss exists if the vehicle is destroyed, is lost and not recovered within one month of the loss report, or if the estimated repair costs plus residual value exceed the replacement value; the insurer pays the replacement value the policyholder would have had to spend for a vehicle of the same type and condition at the time of the loss.

SourceThird-party source, not the insurer's document

Partial loss / repair costs

Not established from the insurer's documents

Covers the cost of the completed repair plus necessary simple freight and transport costs for spare parts, and necessary costs of recovery and transport of the vehicle to the nearest suitable workshop; a new-for-old deduction is applied to spare parts and paintwork, but only for tires, battery and paint up to the end of the third year after first registration.

SourceThird-party source, not the insurer's document

Theft and robbery

Not established from the insurer's documents

Covers damage, destruction or loss caused by theft, robbery or unauthorized use by persons outside the household; a deductible applies. If the vehicle is later recovered, actual recovery costs up to 2% of the replacement value are reimbursed without deduction of the agreed deductible; items not recovered within one month of the loss report become the property of the insurer.

Glass damage

Not established from the insurer's documents

Breakage damage to windshield, side and rear windows, panoramic and sliding glass roofs is covered regardless of cause, for passenger cars, estate cars, minibuses, motorhomes up to 3.5t and trucks up to 1t payload per the T&C/IPID (the marketing brochure states 1.5t payload for this vehicle group). The deductible is waived if the glass is repaired rather than replaced; costs for stickers, vignettes or similar are excluded.

Natural hazards

Not established from the insurer's documents

Covers damage from lightning, rockfall, landslide, avalanche, snow pressure, hail, flooding and storm (wind over 60 km/h), including objects thrown by these forces; under the 'teilweise Selbstbehalt' (partial deductible) clause no deductible applies to these events, while under the 'generell Selbstbehalt' (general deductible) clause the agreed deductible applies. This is distinct from the separate Wild- und KatastrophenKasko product, which caps compensation at EUR 13,000 with a EUR 250 deductible.

Vandalism

Not established from the insurer's documents

Malicious or spiteful acts by persons outside the household are covered as a standard part of Vollkasko (this is optional in Teilkasko); the agreed deductible applies under both the 'teilweise' and 'generell' deductible clauses.

Roadside assistance

Optional

Roadside and accident assistance (breakdown help, towing, recovery, rental car, transport, overnight stay, spare parts shipment, tyre-damage cost reimbursement, etc.) is not part of the Kasko cover itself but is provided under the separately sold 'KLV SofortHelfer Kfz' product, which can be purchased alongside the Kasko policy and is cancellable monthly.

Replacement vehicle

Conditional

A free replacement vehicle is provided during repair at KLV-certified partner workshops, subject to availability; this is not a guaranteed benefit for repairs performed outside the partner network.

Source

Driver/occupant accident cover

Optional

Accident cover for the driver and occupants (death, permanent disability, daily allowance, medical costs) is not included in the Kasko policy itself but is available as the separate 'Fahrzeuginsassen-Unfallversicherung' product, sold with its own IPID and terms.

Key conditions

Driver age and experience limit

No specific minimum driver age or years-of-experience limit is stated in the available documents; coverage requires that the driver holds the driving licence category legally required for the vehicle, both on and off public roads.

Repair network requirements

The policyholder must obtain the insurer's approval before starting repair work. Use of a KLV-certified partner workshop is not mandatory but grants benefits: for Kasko claims from EUR 650, the workshop absorbs up to EUR 150 of the agreed deductible, and a free replacement vehicle is provided where available.

Territorial scope

Coverage applies to Europe in the geographic sense, in any case including the states that signed the 2002 agreement between the national insurance bureaus of the EEA and associated states; the scope can be extended by agreement.

Anti-theft requirements

No specific anti-theft device or alarm system is mandated in the available sources; general coverage of items relies on the vehicle being kept locked ('versperrtes Fahrzeug') for stored or attached parts and contents to be insured.

Claim notification deadline

Claims must generally be reported to the insurer within one week of becoming aware of the loss. Theft, robbery, unauthorized use, fire, explosion, wildlife collision and vandalism must additionally be reported to the nearest police station without delay.

Deductible rules

The deductible is freely selectable starting from EUR 390 and applies per vehicle and per claim as agreed in the policy. At KLV-certified partner workshops, the workshop absorbs up to EUR 150 of the agreed deductible for claims from EUR 650. Under the 'teilweise Selbstbehalt' (partial deductible) clause, the deductible mainly applies to self-caused accident and vandalism damage, while under 'generell Selbstbehalt' (general deductible) it applies to all covered events including natural hazards.
