DONAU Versicherung AG Vienna Insurance Group
DONAU
DONAU is a motor third-party liability insurance for the Austria market with no online purchase and limited assistance availability.
Direct payment
The premium is paid in advance according to the agreed frequency (annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly), e.g. by payment slip, direct debit or online, as agreed.
Geographic scope
Europe (geographical)
Coverage applies in Europe in the geographical sense; the territorial scope can be contractually extended.
Unique selling points
- Customers can choose an insurance sum of 10, 20 or 30 million euros to match their risk appetite.
- Europe-wide roadside assistance is included automatically at the highest (30 million euro) insurance sum, at no extra premium.
- The customer's internal bonus-malus level is protected and stays unchanged no matter how many claims occur or who was driving.
- Gross negligence cover can be added as an optional package, protecting against claims otherwise excluded for careless behaviour.
Coverage limits
Bodily injury liability
€10,000,000 – €30,000,000
Austrian MTPL uses a single combined insurance sum covering bodily injury, property damage and pure financial loss claims together. The policyholder selects 10, 20 or 30 million euros as the insurance sum.
Property damage liability
€10,000,000 – €30,000,000
Property damage is covered under the same combined insurance sum as bodily injury and financial loss claims, selectable at 10, 20 or 30 million euros.
Defence against unjustified claims
Covered
The policy covers the defence against unjustified third-party claims, within the limits of the agreed insurance sum.
Roadside assistance
Conditional
Europe-wide roadside assistance is automatically included when the 30 million euro insurance sum is chosen; at 10 or 20 million euros it can be added for an extra premium.
Driver's own accident claims
Excluded
The driver's own damages claims are explicitly excluded from the MTPL cover.
Passenger accident cover
Not established from the insurer's documents
Passenger accident cover is not part of MTPL; it can be purchased as a separate DONAU occupant accident insurance product for an additional premium.
